Update on DHS threats reported from #Worcester: I spoke with @bmietana.bsky.social at @rns.org about what we were hearing on the ground. Bottom line? DHS claims no ICE raids on churches during holidays but won’t rule it out. This is why we at council of churches sue religionnews.com/2025/11/20/v...
Viral warnings of planned ICE raids on churches have pastors worried
(RNS) — Rumors and viral reports about potential ICE raids have immigrant church leaders worried about their congregations. DHS says it doesn’t have plans to raid churches — but won’t rule it out.

Truly infuriating that people position themselves as "for girls" and....support Donald Trump....like....it's not adding up, folks
I’ve spent a lot of the last three years investigating the rise of anti-trans politics. Often, it came back to the controversy over trans women athletes.

So I teamed up with @pablo.show to look into the leading figure on the issue: Riley Gaines.

How right-wing superstar Riley Gaines built an anti-trans empire
The swimmer tied a trans woman for fifth. The MAGA industrial complex took care of the rest.

I just finished The Waves, the final book for the Virginia Woolf class I was in this semester. We read Mrs. Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, Orlando, and The Waves. I think my favorite is between Orlando & The Waves but I loved them all ❤️❤️❤️

Great thing about taking the bus vs. driving: if you forgot to read poems for class, you can read them while walking to and waiting for the bus ✨✨✨

Seeing some journalists raise questions about the story I reposted earlier, so wanted to share since accurate info even in the midst of intentional chaos & evil of this admin is important.
There’s a religion-related story getting some traction on here tonight from an outlet I’ve never come across, with details that raise lots of questions — so I’d want lots more confirmation.

Not gonna point to it directly bc of that, but I’d encourage folks to await more reporting on the matter.

Profoundly evil.
"Agencies within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including ICE, ERO, and CBP intend to implement a comprehensive plan to target Spanish-speaking churches across the country during the upcoming holiday season between Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, and Christmas, Dec. 25."

So appreciative of readers like @megmcdermott92.bsky.social. I love seeing these kinds of connections and being part of a conversation.
Read this @abbiekiefer.bsky.social poem last night & it felt very relevant to today's Gospel texts (for churches that follow the lectionary - it was Luke 21:5-19)

"To be loved by Susan would be to be impaled by a bird's sharp beak, to be nailed to a barnyard door. Yet there are moments when I could wish to be speared by a beak, to be nailed to a barnyard door, positively, once and for all." - The Waves by Virginia Woolf

Living in a city again is bringing me back to my early-mid twenties vibes lol (it does not help that the clubs play 80 percent of the same music as a decade ago, just with Chappell Roan thrown in 😂)
