I do think Hispanics in Texas are constantly sold being accepted as white if they vote Republican. I guess they're just now realizing that they would be purged too regardless.

when my parents immigrated to the United States from Brazil in the 80s I don’t think they did it to become Irish
When Bereleh and Faygel Krugman emigrated from Belarus to New York, which was mostly Catholic and Jewish in 1920, I don't think they did for the Scots (with one t) Irish culture

They can easily convert those warehouses to prison camps because they do not care about providing humane living conditions.
Our housing shortage is a policy choice, yes, but it's a lot easier to turn an industrial building into housing when you're not worried about things like adequate bathrooms.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

building on a topic we were discussing yesterday: in large portions of the United States, there is a *very strong* cultural norm that the highest social faux pas is to imply moral deficiencies in others even *or especially* if those things are true. It is because half the country were slavers.
