Wow. New followers! Nice to meet you all.

I'm Liz. I'm a lawyer who lives in Louisiana and practices in criminal post- conviction settings. I'm a trans woman, and I'm an Episcopalian. My Christianity related posts are marked with ⚓, if you aren't in a spot for Christian posts right now.

Either these people are lying in polls or Brits lack spines when it comes to fighting for civil rights to a degree that is truly breathtaking

I have to assume that it's the former because there's no way any body politic with these views is that milquetoast in response to things like the EHRC recs
god i love how these guys make it obvious they've cooked their brains on lobby groups on X and not actually talk to any zoomer gays

While I’m in a ranty mood (and when am I not tbh 🙂)

DEAR PRIESTS

When you suggest a meeting with a layperson whom you know has a normal(-ish) job

And you give two times an hour apart in the middle of the workday

We might not actually feel that cared for 😒

I wonder how far organizations like this have to be pushed before they develop a spine. If the courts decided women only meant UK-born whites, would they go along with it to avoid lawsuits?

I'm just a silly Yank but afaik women's rights have historically not been won by mindless law-following.

Dudes rock
Went back over today & Dad is showing me the installation process.

“Bless your grandfather,” he says. “I didn’t have an awl big enough. Remembered his tools were back here.”

Generations of men in my family are coming together so my fursuit can have a cute and well-constructed ass. I’m in disbelief
Something you have to understand: I love my parents. My parents are awesome. They don’t have any interest in my hobbies at all. We NEVER talk about where I go or what I do.

This is the first father-son project I’ve had since seventh grade and it’s a fursuit tail. What? Huh? Ok??? Thanks Dad???

“Have Yourself A Merriam Little Christmas”

Merriam, a career-oriented lexicographer from the city, returns to her small town for the holidays and meets Webster, a ruggedly handsome librarian, who shows her the true DEFINITION of Christmas.

Slowly understanding Procreate. Decided to go with my comic-leaning style and draw my girl Zatza for my first illustration!
Went a little overboard with the different brushes and effects, but it was fun!

Will try my painting style next.

OK, internet, from a pretty awesome discussion with someone who has a different view than me, have a question. Is the following hypothetical bullying:

Someone on my block rants to his Facebook friends every Saturday about how he hates seeing the damn kike walking to synagogue

Please comment

Costco is suing the Trump administration in an effort to get a full refund of new tariffs paid by the warehouse retail giant this year and to block those tariffs from continuing to be imposed as a Supreme Court case plays out… www.cnbc.com/2025/12/01/c...
Costco sues for Trump tariff refunds before Supreme Court rules if they're illegal
Costco joins dozens of other companies that are seeking to protect their rights to refunds of Trump's tariffs without first waiting for the Supreme Court.

The path to undoing the damage is to avoiding doomering and fighting for that better future.

This was Coates whole rebuttal to Klein: the mindset grounded in the lived experience of Black Americans that you fight for a future you likely won’t see, setting up those who come next to keep going.
We doomers are seeing way more than just one issue. We are seeing systematic issues that aren't going to be resolvable for years, possibly decades. Yes, it's nice to see a light in the darkness sometimes, but until everything is back to "normal" or better, we doomers are still gonna doom. #doom

I've never tried to find a reason to play a game as hard as I've tried with ARC RAIDERS, but no amount of ethical twisting can get me around the fact that the LLM usage for voices is at best an extremely bad precedent.

I really want to play this game, but I can't with that AI usage.

oh dear
At this point, our intro comp/first-year English course has been so heavily revised, it no longer includes a novel, or "extended reading" of any kind, no "specialized" or "historical" reading, mostly in-class assignments, no research essay...and we are still seeing a 40-50% rate of AI misconduct.

1. Here on the Internet we sometimes speak of things that we believe should happen, not necessarily that will happen. We do this because the ability to envision a better world is fundamental to its creation.
2. The phrase is “tilting at windmills.”
3. Suck my dick.
Article II Section 2 of the Constitution.

Requires an Amendment. 2/3 congress. 2/3 states.

NEVER HAPPENING.

Stop flailing at windmills and fight fights that can be won.

I saw some chat about Arc Raiders' use of AI voice actors recently - I'm probably not going to rerecord the talk I gave at EXAG but I thought I'd drop in a few slides about the idea that you can make generative AI ethical by getting people to sign a piece of paper to say you can use their data.

STOP MAKING GIANT BLOBS. IT'S ABOUT THE PECANS! THE PECANS! GET YOU SOME MOLASSES. WHAT ARE Y'ALL DOING
I think Pecan Pie is one of those things that is divisive now because it’s just a blob of sugar with nuts on it but to someone 150 years ago who ate shoes it was probably like having 12 orgasms at once

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.
