I'd like to play you some music that my band and I have taken far too long to finish. We gigged this one over a year ago; it's about the retreat of corporate pride, and it's given me an opportunity to indulge my Talk Talk obsession a little bit.

They pushed out this new code in such a rush, with so little care for the people it affects, that they didn’t even finalise the impact assessment, or bother sending it to the minister who’s supposed to oversee equality. /3

Advocates say conservative states’ push to define gender as ‘biological sex’ would backslide on decade-old language within the UN

Split Enz's gloriously eccentric early years—when they were co-led by Tim Finn and Phil Judd, and very far away from the sharp, succinct pop songwriting of Neil Finn—are collected on the new box set ENZcyclopedia, Volumes 1 & 2. My review:
Split Enz, ENZcyclopedia, Volumes 1 & 2
A five-disc set that thoroughly chronicles Split Enz's early years, when the band was co-led by Tim Finn and Phil Judd.

Let’s be clear: @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social and Labour own this cruelty

Trans+ children and teenagers are being harmed by a Health Secretary who could stop it all tomorrow

But every day Streeting refuses to end his anti-Trans+ crusade, he makes a deliberate choice to let his cruelty continue
Please read this statement by Anne Health.

Trans children are being subjected by Sussex NHS to the physical torture of being forcibly detransitioned.

This is unnecessary cruelty and in my view constitutes torture, violence and child abuse on the part of NHS Sussex.
Anne Health response: NHS Sussex Investigation into WellBN GP Practice - Anne Healthcare
We are deeply concerned by the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s updated Code of Practice which has been sent to Secretary of State, Bridget Philipson, this week. While presented as clarification,...

And now that this is coming to light for those same people to start moving on to "well maybe it isn't such a big deal that these men have engaged grooming and pedophilia?" is going to make me vomit up my entire skeleton in inchoate rage.

I cannot begin to properly articulate how upsetting it is to have had people baselessly accuse trans people of being groomers and pedophiles only for it to come out that they were deliberately doing this as part of a project to provide cover to actual groomers and pedophiles in positions of power

so glad the child sexual abuse panic was squarely pointed at folks like me by the people actually doing it & the public was like “yeah, seems right—freaks did it. not the men with all the money & fighting to keep child marriage legal, the women that are legal to kill in 30 states if you’re nervous.”
What a great day for finding out that a lot of things people thought were conspiracies are actually backed up by emails that are like hey pedo, let us pedo together in pedoland on the second day of the pedo month

Again and again and again I have said that transphobia is a tool of Patriarchy that protects predatory men. I've been dogpiled over there for saying it. Yet here we are looking at yet another example of how transphobia deflects attention from what men are doing.
As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

35 years ago in November 1990, PSB released “Being boring” as the 2nd single from their 4th studio album, “Behaviour”. The song was inspired by a party invitation from Neil’s Newcastle days which quoted Zelda Fitzgerald’s line “She was never bored, mainly because she was never boring”.

The reality (that trans people exist and are under attack from hate groups, political class and media) hasn't changed.

What has changed, is the hate groups, with support of wealth and political support, have become institutional and are trying to shame anyone who dares stand up for what's right.

Getting really sick of pundits talking about all three “major issues” of the BBC complaint as if they need to be treated equally.

One of them led to the resignations. The only one that has any substantive evidence behind it.

The other two are just empty right wing complaints.

Whole thing reeks.

Story in @glasgowbell.bsky.social this morning about the dire state of the Mitchell Library which needs £25m for stabilising works. If I was an immensely wealthy Scottish writer this is the sort of project I would fund with 2% of my fortune instead of obsessively trying to eradicate a minority group

Back in the studio, although the discussion was about racism, Glasman turned it about trans rights ‘activists’ and ‘single sex spaces’.
We always knew that Blue Labour was problematic, but it’s now unambiguously clear that he is the driving force behind the government’s attitude towards trans people

If it is, objectively, raining, then being neutral between people who say it is & people who say it isn't is colluding in a falsehood.

See also: poverty, exploitation, pollution, corruption, etc, etc, etc...
Neutrality and objectivity are not the same thing and are, in fact, often contradictory goals. The objective truth is often not neutral in its political implications, and it would be a useless exercise if it was.
Got turned down on a piece about ICE in Chicago for an international news org because they believed I couldn’t be objective about my neighbors getting kidnapped. And well, guilty as charged I guess.
