Ran into a plaster cast of Laocoön so hard that I ended up with concussion
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

I’ve got a rancid, stinking, horrible cold that feels very specifically like something a small child would be off primary school with in the 1980s.
Really doesn’t feel at all like the kind of cold that I, as an adult, in this present year of our lord 2026, have any business to be fucking with

Thank you for all of the donations so far! It means the world to me! We are just £2 away from £400! How cool is that? The money raised will really help people in need 💚

Important news just in
Fat Puffin was a massive star. When I was about 6 we were at the Puffin Club Exhibition and met Kaye Webb (then Puffin chief editor). She gave us a rescued duckling. We took it home with us and called it Webby.

Made another scrappy, scruffy puffin based on Jill McDonald’s Puffin Post illustrations.
A lovely things about these not being “for” anything is that it allows them to be imperfect & hamfisted: there being no pressure on them means my sewing is actually slowly slightly improving a bit with each one

Another fantastic film in the Visions of Paradise series about the irrepressible Tressa “Grandma” Prisby & her bottle village, which started with creating the perfect place for a single pencil & grew into an extraordinary expansive environment of colourful scavenged glass

The utmost respect, awe & admiration for Robin’s fiercely principled stand which is entirely representative of the caring compassionate person he is.
In a just society, nothing he has said would be controversial or even necessary, simply basic human decency.
All love to him for trying to make it so

Made another bockety little Jill McDonald style party puffin: no idea what for but that’s the joy of it.
Absolutely stink at sewing but I hope this no pressure making for pure pleasure might improve my non-existent skills & I truly do love the mental peace of pottering away at these felt fripperies

Extraordinary film about Calvin Black’s Possum Trot doll theatre, one of the most amazing lost visionary environments.
Anyway, I would urge you to watch this & see for yourself the strange & wonderful world he created with the help of his wife Ruby

Birding (2025) by Rose Ruane (@regretteruane.bsky.social)

One of the last audiobooks I listened to this year, mostly while spending hours walking around Turin trying to find vegan panettone (a far harder task than in 2024). I failed, but every minute was worth it to finish this wonderful novel.

As I always say, if you’re not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much fucking space, so I’m swashbuckling & swaggering into the new year with all the thrusting, thrill a minute explosive energy I intend to bring to every scintillating second of 2026.
By which I mean, I’ve ordered a new bin
