My favourite thing about this post is that Americans think it is only about them whilst I am actually addressing all of human history. We had “divinely chosen” kings a while back and everyone went along with that delusion too.
Entire planet could be frolicking in the woods and meadows but instead we have to fight fascism because far too many of you love billionaires and bigotry more than you love yourselves.

Yes, it is.

The work in progress of my Hekate play sold out in ONE WEEK. 250 seats. One week. 😳 I can’t believe it?!

If you want an example of right wing propaganda masquerading as feminism, this is it. Saying famous women aren’t allowed to dress the way they want or must act in a certain way so that all women cannot be sexualised is pushing purity culture rooted in religious fundamentalism.

It is not “human nature” to be a fascist and you are very lucky you didn’t say this to me in person. I bit the last person who said this to me, took a right chomp out of their arm when I was 9 years old.

This poem by Gwendolyn Brooks continues to be an anchor on hard days.

One of my favourite quotes is from Audre Lorde and it reminds me consistently why community is so urgent: “We are, each one of us, intricately woven into the other's existence.”

“we are each other’s harvest”

Ever relevant, this poem by Mary Oliver, especially today.

Techbros are having a very hard time selling AI slop to regular people so they’re now just begging regular people to stop calling it AI slop.

It is still and will always be slop.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says people should move beyond calling AI 'slop'

"We need to get beyond the arguments of slop vs sophistication and develop a new equilibrium ... that accounts for humans being equipped with these new cognitive amplifier tools as we relate to each other"

It’s been said, but I am legitimately shocked at how the anti-DEI shit has just morphed straight into,”Why are there Black people in [insert institution]?”

I've been sorting through quotes I've saved over the past year, looking for things appropriate for the dawn of a new year. The best is only four words, found in the profile of @nikitagill.bsky.social:

"Loves the world still."

It will not be easy, but keep loving the world.

I am going to tell you right now that despite all the turmoil and pain we are going to win. Things will get better and the world will become kinder because we will rebuild it that way. We will carry hope and use it to craft a beautiful new gentle world. We are going to win.

One positive thing you can do this new year is follow Nikita for poems that take your breath away or grab at your heart. So good, we're lucky to have them.

In 2026, we must stop letting techbros decide what art is and how it should exist.

I was going to try to say…something about the year behind us and the year ahead but I couldn’t think of anything better than this post I have thought of often over the past challenging year.
A soft, small, hopeful thing.

I’m going to need everyone on social media to be smarter with how they use it in 2026 because there is such a thing as shutting the fuck up because there are Feds on every app.

This is because conservatives have decided to turn America into Stephen Miller’s Mojo Dojo Casa House and wildly enough no one wants to date the fascist losers who enforce said house’s rules.

Everyone has a list of so-called "red flags" when they're dating. And for some, especially younger Americans, different political views is a relationship deal breaker.

It's kinda funny how every third political post on has some variation of "oh so you think there's going to be elections how cute" in the replies while the daily news is of Republicans getting boatraced in elections, manufacturing the reality you desire to be outraged about isn't just a rw phenomenon
