I’m running for Congress because we need leaders who will fight, not fold. I recognize this moment, and I’m ready to meet it. #FightDontFold #LanderForNYC #LanderForCongress

One shift on the doors, one shift doing ICE-watch: that’s the goal @bradlander.bsky.social has set to ensure his campaign is not just about electing him so he can fight for New Yorkers once in office, but also about fighting alongside New Yorkers right now! Learn more: bradlanderforcongress.com

We did a business canvass with @bradlander.bsky.social’s campaign in downtown Brooklyn tonight—not to talk about his congressional race, but to make sure business owners know their fourth amendment rights if ICE agents enter their stores.

Absolutely thrilled to see @nishaagarwal.bsky.social appointed Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities.

Our mutual friend @adybarkan.bsky.social is smiling on the choice. Nisha embodies what it means to #BeAHero.

Love to see Christopher Alvarez with the scoop!

First shot taken! Congratulations @analiliafornj.bsky.social! She will be a powerful voice and a tireless organizer in Congress for working people, immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, and all of us.

Thank you, @indivisible.org!

With fascism ascendent, in a country that working families can’t afford, we need to fight like hell for a more inclusive democracy and a more equal economy.

Together, we’ll keep organizing for the country that we deserve.

Thrilled to hear @nynurses.bsky.social reached a deal with Mt. Sinai & Montefiore for safe staffing ratios, benefits, & stronger workplace protections, after nearly a month on the picket line.

Shameful that NY-Presbyterian still has them freezing out in the cold.

If they can do this to find a dog, they can do this to find anyone. That’s terrifying.

With freezing temps & dangerous wind chill across NYC, staying safe is critical. Warming centers are open in every borough for anyone to stop by & warm up. We must take care of one another — check in on neighbors, family members, & anyone who may need help in this frigid cold. Stay safe & stay warm!

Rabbi Ellen Lippmann is a critical member of the Jewish community in our city — from teaching the core values of Judaism, to being a champion of peace for people across the world — New York wouldn’t be the same without her.

Proud to have attended @mayor.nyc.gov’s interfaith breakfast, where Zohran reaffirmed New York City’s commitment to being a sanctuary city. This Executive Order will protect our immigrant neighbors and defend NYC as a place of safety and opportunity for all people.

Looks like NJ-11 is sending an organizer to Congress!

Congratulations @analiliafornj.bsky.social on shaking the political earth tonight!

Can’t wait to keep working with you, from the streets of our neighborhoods to the halls of Congress. #FightDontFold

Props to these fearless nurses who have been fighting for a fair contract for over 3 weeks now, in the frigid cold. Our healthcare workers deserve fair wages, safe staffing, and real benefits. Keep fighting! New Yorkers have your back!
Nurses took direct action outside the League of Voluntary Hospitals and Homes to stand up to corporate greed and demand management negotiate fair contracts! Shoutout to these 13 incredible nurses! They've all been released and ready to fight another day! ✊

The latest release of the Epstein files is a chilling reminder of how the wealthy elite are protected while survivors continue to fight for justice. There is no reason anyone named in these allegations should walk free, taunting victims and fueling public distrust.

Some very exciting news for @uaw.org members today! Congrats to the workers of Volkswagen’s Chattanooga plant for reaching a historic tentative contract for well-deserved wage increases and benefits. The people united will never be defeated.

While Tom Homan was trying to grab headlines this morning ICE was again circling our schools. They’ve been out all morning and no “drawdown” is enough until every single one of these agents is out of our state and DHS is abolished.

Thank you @khanna.house.gov for showing what it looks like to demand accountability from the halls of Congress, without fear or favor.
I am calling for Congress to haul in every person who emailed Epstein about visiting his island.

I will not rest until those who committed these crimes are held accountable.

Mazel tov to Phylisa Wisdom on being appointed to head the @mayor.nyc.gov Office to Combat Antisemitism. @phylisawisdom.bsky.social is the perfect person for the job. I’ve had the blessing to watch her lead @nyjewishagenda.bsky.social in many critical moments.

The Nation’s homepage today is dedicated entirely to Gaza and its people. Despite a so-called ceasefire, bombings continue, hunger persists, aid trickles, and hundreds of thousands live in threadbare tents.
Today, as Gaza continues to be stuck in a bloody limbo, we are turning our website over to Gaza and its people in an initiative we are calling “A Day for Gaza.” There will be no pieces published on our website today that do not come directly from Gaza.

Today, The Nation is turning over its website exclusively to stories from Gaza and its people. This is why.

House Democrats must vote ‘no’ on DHS funding tomorrow. Our country is in the middle of a five alarm fire, and we must act like it.

While ICE agents are killing Americans in the street and using five year old children as bait, we should not give that agency another dime.

The people of Minneapolis love their neighbors — and that’s why they hate ICE.

Here’s some of what I learned from them this week

(and why it feels a lot like what @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social describes in “A Paradise Built in Hell”)
