A @startribune.com Best Book of 2025! "Minneapolis writer and naturalist Slaght's "Owls of the Eastern Ice" was hugely acclaimed in 2020 and "Tigers" may be even better....enlivened by the insights of Slaght, whose compassion and curiosity make his book suspenseful and urgent."

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

One of the less talked about things with the federal government's attacks on Minnesota is that it's not just the goon squads, it's also across the board attempts to deny us Congressionally allocated federal funding.

Because we love our neighbors, apparently.
The Trump administration plans to rescind $600 million in public health funds from four states led by Democrats because it finds the grants “inconsistent with agency priorities,” according to documents reviewed by the NYT

"I'm proud to represent Team USA. But we'd be remiss if we didn't mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been. What's happening is wrong. There's no shades of gray."

The problem with them choosing this as their primary talking point is that nearly every in Minnesota personally knows someone who has been taken by ICE. And they all had either a spotless criminal record or an entirely non-violent one.

These are lies. They are going to lose. MN will not quit.

it's #SuperbOwl Sunday! Best day of the year. For your consideration, the Blakiston's fish owl. Largest owls in the world (six-foot wingspans, weigh close to a bald eagle), salmon eaters, live year-round in remote forests of northeast Asia. 🦉

Swear to god, ICE could just announce they're leaving a city but not leave and the media will just stop covering that city completely even though ICE never left.

It's what ICE and the media did with LA and they're doing it with Minneapolis too

ICE must be abolished.
