We need to clamor for that even if the votes aren't there—yet.

Nonviolence is, in fact, working. This administration is weaker than it was a year ago. More and more of the public is becoming galvanized against it; its agents are being impeded.
Do you honestly think people in the civil rights movement and other nonviolent movements faced no violence themselves? They practiced nonviolence because it works, because the oppressor wants a shooting war, which is the war it will win
How's your non-violent working Mr Gandhi stancil? They will kill each and everyone of you right if they had the chance and you will still be writing Kumbaya.

I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...

Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.

I just want to make it clear that it was *Border Patrol* agents who murdered Alex Pretti, and those fuckers murder people regularly here along the border.

Renee Good´s murderer is also a former Border Patrol agent (currently ICE).

Disband ALL the paramilitary groups and prosecute every member.

Also where I'm at right now. Too much is riding on America getting it right after this administration collapses. It's time for a "release of energy", as New Deal attorney and legal historian J. Willard Hurst, put it. How can we make a new, more true America from this wreckage?
I will immediately resign from my corporate gig and take the attendant pay cut if a future D POTUS offers me a DOJ spot persecuting members of this Administration
Honestly a federal commission with prosecutorial authority paired with stripping immunity from ICE officers would be a huge wombo combo

It seems to me that they want to negotiate because they know they're losing. The answer was always no, but now? Absolutely the fuck not.
Pam Bondi's conditions for Minnesota: 1) give us all your state data on your food programs, including SNAP 2) repeal all your sanctuary policies in the state (since it has led to "so much crime and violence") and 3) hand over your state voting rolls. Letter here: www.fox9.com/news/minneap...

I keep thinking “my god the people they’ve killed seem like exceptionally good folks” and I think the lesson there is that they’re not exceptional, but that wonderful people abound and that a baseline distrust in humanity is a shitty conservative trope that privileges power over collective strength
you don't become a martyr because you were a saint, you become a saint because you were martyred
I agree that we can’t make Alex Pretti a Benedictine monk because that’s a trap, but we can talk about the good things we did because people will see and hear them and think “I do those things too”

You have to read this. Firsthand affidavit from one of the women who was there and recording the video. She talks about how Alex Pretti was directing traffic when she arrived. She watched him be killed in front of her. She's afraid to go home, worried she'll be arrested.

Murray is the chief Democratic appropriator. She negotiated the DHS funding deal. She needs to present a new plan now
This looks like an execution. There must be an investigation. There must be accountability.

Joining ICE does not give you license to murder.

The President is escalating the situation—and I have no faith he will stop. The Republican Congress must join us to end this. Enough.
Live: Man shot and killed by federal agents in Minneapolis this morning, police chief says
A video appears to shows federal agents wrestling a man to the ground then shooting him. The Department of Homeland Security said the man was armed with a gun.

Reminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump — 3 in House & 20 in Senate). That’s it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.

I know Will wasn’t the first to say it, but I cant stop thinking about “we will never have as many guns as they have/they will never have as many people as we have” and how easy that makes it to pick a strategy

Observers have been working day and night to protect these neighborhoods from ICE, make the streets safe so kids can go to school and people can go to their jobs. Burning down the street undoes all our work. The people setting fires haven’t been putting in long hours watching plates or doors.

Why is Dem leadership not on the ground in MN? If the answer is “polls show Trump’s disapproval is only -15 on deportations, but -25 on prices,” thats a Bad Use Of Polling and a complete failure in their capacity as leaders to lead public opinion and fight for democracy and the rule of law

The minimum moderate position is not abolishing or defunding ICE, it's Trump's removal. He is a tyrant, he has declared war against peaceful people, he is a criminal, he is corrupt, and he has violated his oath of office innumerable times.

And reinforcing the point that ICE is easier to say but the worst violence is coming from Customs and Border Patrol.
Not untrained, not inexperienced.
The officer who fatally shot a Minneapolis man during a protest is an 8-year Border Patrol veteran, federal officials say.

If you're wondering why the Dem Party just seems inept, I think this is the best explanation.

There is no party. There is a fundraising machine masquerading as a party.
For three decades now the party has given up local organizational presence in favour of an electoral get out the vote model. The leadership is built for fund raising, stumping, and legislative work. They do not bear any semblance to the idea of local surgeries or constituency mobilization.
