New novella up for pre-order. Slow-burn friends to lovers mid-spice rom-com, in the Miss Lovelock series. Trying a different tone with this one, less of the mildly bonkers external plot-line, more focus on the characters (more grit, also more swearing). On the Amazons and Kindle Unlimited. #romcoms

I wish I could be as relaxed as my cat. His name is Reginald and he’s actually a lot more feral than he looks in this photo while also being deeply affectionate - a contradiction

Not a National voter obvs, but we ended up sitting next to Jim Bolger in a corporate box at the Wgtn stadium when the All Whites were playing Bahrain in the world cup qualifiers, and he leapt up and hugged my husband when we saved the penalty

“Fat chance, economan. Why acknowledge the wider policy decisions that fed into people’s circumstances when you could just tell them to buck up their ideas and move to Dargaville? Why rethink economic orthodoxy when you could ask people to consider not being poor?”

There are so many reasons not to read Dame Jilly now but in the 1980s her books blew everything else out of the water. She made me think writing could actually be huge fun (all double entendres deliberate)

The strongest National supporter I know told me last week how worried he was that his grandson had applied for so many jobs and was still unemployed. I think this comment will infuriate even him cause he believes in work & knows people aren't sitting on the couch.
