The double pardon really gives away the game. Adriana Camberos started her second round of fraud just weeks after her first pardon. She was charged, convicted, imprisoned…and pardoned again. Trump supporters are permitted unlimited crimes, while the rest of us can get beaten by the secret police.
President Trump quietly issued clemency grants this week, including to a California woman he had pardoned once before and a man whose daughter had donated millions to a Trump super PAC.

“Oughtposting vs isposting” is immediately load bearing for me
I have a theory that the general epistemic crisis has led to a lot of very online people getting used to communicating primarily through oughtposting and kind of forgetting how to deal with isposting
people gotta chill out about making normative vs. descriptive claims. it’s tedious to have to specify “of course, I do NOT support fire” if you’re talking about a house burning down.

A new NYT video analysis by confirms that Renee Good's vehicle did not run over Jonathan Ross and did not strike him. It's possible that it brushed up against him, but that remains unclear. Ross should be under arrest. This is a gift link. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/15/v...

Mr Landry on how the United States expands.

Funny, I must have forgotten when they said that to the Cherokee. Or the Kingdom of Hawaii.

Or the Sioux. Or Mexico. Or anyone west of the Proclamation line of 1763.

Must not have been paying attention when reading my history books.

I am extremely anti-AI, in virtually every way possible.

But creative commons licensed content charging AI to scrape them is good, actually.

Because they're creative commons. The scraping is already happening. Charging for it is like saying "you don't get to count as people."

Saw a lot of headlines saying "wikipedia is embracing ai" being tossed around tabloids, and I'm pretty sure they were maliciously written to make you feel a certain way about Wikipedia. What's actually happening is that wikipedia is demanding payment for data scraping and the corpos don't like that.
Sure. AI companies have ALWAYS been training their models on Wikipedia content, which under the free and open access model is available to anyone — including AI companies. Agreements like these require AI companies to limit and offset the strain they place on Wikimedia infrastructure.

Hi! Jew here by raising if not by practice. We have seen massive antisemitism in this regime, so the reason behind this is clearly a lie. Also, we've been comparing Trump to Hitler for a while now, so anyone still denying it is, well, in denial.
Once again: a far-right president asking Jews to register as Jewish, in the name of protecting the Jews, after he has repeatedly accused Jews of being “disloyal.” What could go wrong?

Only sharing news when actionable, and this is:

Call your congresspeople, especially if they aren't part of this, and tell them you support this. Yes, even if your rep is GOP. They need to hear our voices. They need to hear from us. They need to know the polls aren't "fake news" and ICE is hated.
The Congressional Progressive Caucus, a group of nearly 100 House Democrats, will announce later today that it's formally endorsing legislation to strip $175 billion from ICE and put it toward affordable housing. www.huffpost.com/entry/doj-fe...

The thing that really makes Minneapolis different, other than the fact that they straight up murdered someone, is that they've dropped all pretense that this is just about immigration. The state has declared war on its own people, or at least those people who live in cities.

If you see an abduction keep your wits about you and focus on:
-recording it
-getting a name

The first one I saw I went into a red rage and started screaming “GO HOME.” The second I was better but I didn’t get to the key question fast enough (I had less than 20 seconds).

Next time I’ll do better
Even just a name can put in motion efforts that get someone released. If they're a citizen, we can get them jail support. If they're an immigrant, there are groups working overtime to file habeas petitions before they're whisked out of state. But it starts with a name.
If you see one, the most important thing to say is “WHAT’S YOUR NAME” because otherwise the person is gone for good, maybe. I witnessed one in an alley as the sole pursuit car, I was the only witness, I froze for a second and didn’t shout it in time, and the guy is just… gone now. I’ll never know.

The Supreme Court only cleared the way for Kavanaugh Stops four months ago and ICE now openly engages in violent racial profiling, snatching anyone who looks non-white and treating them as presumptively guilty of a crime. Remarkable how quickly our liberties can be crushed when courts go along.
Can confirm I have personally seen three attempts just today of agents in a convoy of ICE vehicles trying to snatch random POCs along Central Ave - and then being chased off by neighbors with whistles. It's blatant racial profiling.

Minneapolis city council member says POC should stay home:
Dear neighbor,

HIGH ALERT‼️ If you are vulnerable to deportation please stay home today. I’m sorry to say this but it’s not safe to be outside. ICE is tearing families apart.

Children of immigrants please keep your family safe.

Have been in bed an hour, and despite adding an extra blanket and scooting LeggyDog to my side (she is incredibly toasty), cannot get warm.
Got up to heat up a rice sock and discovered a candle still burning in the kitchen so perhaps the universe was looking out for me. Hoping for sleep now though.

ICE is targeting Hmong families in St. Paul as they go door to door looking for people to kidnap. they’re asking “do you have any Asian neighbors”

a reminder, again, that AltNPS is a grifter account run by people who have no affiliation with the National Park Service and indeed who never did have any affiliation with the National Park Service. They have no sources, they have no information, they are purely there to scam you.
"Receiving reports" my ass. AltNPS is not receiving reports of ICE raids in Saint Paul. They are seeing posts on social media like the rest of us.

I DO have loved ones in Saint Paul. ALL of my loved ones. They're terrified. Fuck you.
