Amidst all the things going on, I am feeling pretty happy about where I'm at with my campaign to make the DFL a better space for trans people and push us to actually embrace change in our platform. 28 districts in all eight congressional districts across the state sure is something.

So what's happening here is that Walz is likely negotiating a deal where ICE would be allow access to our justice system to detain supposed undocumented people accused of crimes. Note the "accused." ICE is grabbing people from *pre-trial* hearings, so people who have not had their day in court.

Living in Minnesota right now feels like being in the emergency room. Literally everyone is suffering in different ways, even if it's "just" a badly twisted ankle rather than a kidney stone or a full-on heart attack. The staff are working as hard as they can but energy and resources are dwindling.

This is why domestic "shuffle" flights between ICE detention centers have skyrocketed, much moreso than ICE deportation flights.
When you are moved to a different jurisdiction, you have to refile your habeas petition all over again. They want to wear people down so they'll give up on their cases.

I also think we need to make peace with the fact that Trump will likely never see the inside of a prison cell and will die on his own at home without ever facing justice.
I keep thinking about how we won't get a true, full accounting of what's happening in the ICE detention centers until we have new leadership and root out all elements of MAGA from this country. And I don't know what it will take and I do not trust Dem leadership to do it.

Also I keep wanting to clockwork orange my dad and force him to look at pictures of what the feds are doing to our neighbors here in hopes that he might feel some kind of shame.
I keep thinking about how we won't get a true, full accounting of what's happening in the ICE detention centers until we have new leadership and root out all elements of MAGA from this country. And I don't know what it will take and I do not trust Dem leadership to do it.

Our DHS reform demands are exceedingly reasonable.
We're asking ICE to do nothing more than follow the standards that the vast majority of law enforcement agencies already follow.

This morning 5 ICE vehicles parked illegally in a bike lane and in MPD parking spots directly outside of City Hall. Myself and several other Council Members and city staff went outside to observe them and blew our whistles to alert people nearby. After about 45 minutes they left

I am so glad people are out doing this. The ice (not the feds but the physical thing) is such a hazard for people who use mobility aids or have trouble with balance.
Bopping in to say that clearing ice from corners and bus stops is excellent community care and also good for getting out some kind of energy and connecting with strangers.
