Former journalist, long-time Minneapolitan, curator of Uptown’s borders and chief rememberer, Halloween Blizzard of 1991. Posts too much about Minneapolis politics and knows it, but old professional habits die hard.
Despite being vaxxed (it’s a coin flip effectiveness-wise), got it this year. Has pretty much wiped out this vacation. Hit Tuesday & I’m still laid up today. Can’t think of the last time I was down for more than a couple days.

News stories about new Minnesota laws taking effect January 1st have already been published and will continue. One law subject to misunderstanding is that online applications for absentee ballots will now call for both kinds of ID number, not either-or. Explanatory thread follows.

It’s fun when they suck!
Watching a couple Thunder games in the last week and ugh.

They just grab and shove on both sides.

Gilgeous Alexander is so good but shoves off all the time and flops.

Coach had a weird haircut and smug look all the time.

Stolen team.

Just not fun to watch.

“Cesar Marenco, owner of Milagro Towing, has become a regular Waymo door-closer. He recently freed a robotaxi by removing a seat belt caught in its rear door, an operation he captured with Meta smart glasses & shared on TikTok.
‘Goodbye, Waymo,‘ Marenco said in the video, which has 400,000+ views”
When robot taxis get stuck, a secret army of humans comes to the rescue
Waymo robotaxis get stranded when a passenger leaves the door open. Tow truck operators can get paid $22 to close a door and set them free again.

I love the east Bay Area. People of different races and religions live and work together to build the American Dream. We in liberal society take this for granted but the national rise of extremism stemming from online content seeks to take this away from us.

Keep digging.
Bari Weiss just sent this Christmas Eve email to the CBS News staff about "building trust," which includes her tripling down on spiking the CECOT piece "to make sure it's comprehensive and fair."

One CBS staffer tells me: "She really has no idea how insulting she comes across."

'Some patients find that medication-induced weight loss lessens rather than improves fitness, because another side effect is muscle loss. Several trials have reported that 35 to 45 percent of GLP-1 weight loss is not fat, but “lean mass” including muscle and bone.'
