Thomas Hatch, Génesis Cabrera, Anthony Misiewicz and Michael Tonkin were all outrighted off the 40-man roster as well, and Cory Laweryson was lost on waivers to the Angels.

In addition to losing Cody Laweryson on waivers, the Twins released Jose Miranda, Michael Tonkin, Thomas Hatch, Génesis Cabrera and Anthony Misiewicz off their 40-man roster.

Their 40-man roster currently stands at 33 players.

The Twins declined the $2M club option in Justin Topa’s contract. He still remains in the organization, eligible for arbitration, and he will receive a $225,000 buyout from the declined club option.

The Angels claimed reliever Cody Laweryson off waivers. Laweryson pitched in five games for the Twins at the end of last season, allowing one earned run in 7 2/3 innings.

Hearing that former Padres manager and Twins bench coach Jayce Tingler has agreed to join Tony Vitello's staff in San Francisco. Tingler and Vitello were college teammates at Missouri and have remained close friends, so this is a very predictable outcome.

The Twins are scheduled to play the Gophers on Feb. 20 in their spring training opener in Fort Myers, Fla.

They’ll begin their Grapefruit League schedule on Feb. 21 against the Red Sox at Hammond Stadium, and close camp on March 24.
