However the Law Enforcement Baronial Class cannot abide by such limits, so many such reforms were rolled back after 2020. That’s what Biden funded.

Solidarity with the people in scarves and coats protesting heavily armed federal agents who have proven willing to kill. If it were an army, Trump's deportation machine would be the 13th largest on earth. Yet it cannot stop people from trying their hardest to protect their neighbors.

The focus on training misses the mark. Yes, many federal agents are sloppy and unprepared, but years of organizing against police violence have taught me that more training doesn't stop violence. It just makes the death-making more respectable (sometimes) and more expensive.

I wonder which people said this about policing in general a few years ago... [I recall that there might even have been some sort of a movement focused on this] - I know that Austin already knows. EYE will never get over the bullshit though.
The more money, resources, and power you give to ICE, the more folks they're going to harm and kill. It's as simple as that.

It's a good day to ignore anybody who says "I'm an abolitionist, but..." and then goes on to say that they are not an abolitionist. Abolition isn't an identity so much as it is a practice, and in this case the practices it calls for are very clear, and they start with removing money, jobs, power.

And this is what the elites, elected officials and A LARGE PORTION OF THE US POPULATION refuse. Sorry folks, there will be no significant change without this.

I want people to realize prosecuting the police is always a long shot and even when successful that it hasn’t produced any observable change in behavior from the police in general.

A meeting I was going attend tonight has been postponed so that people can attend protests, vigils, and grief spaces in response to ICE killing a community observer in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis, Chicago is with you. ❤️

If it's true that Minneapolis has/is getting more than triple number of ICE/CBP officers that Chicago had, it's not because Minneapolis has more immigrants (it doesn't) or because Trump hates Minneapolis more (I bet Chicago has the edge) but probably more an indication of DHS's increased capacity.

When Jacob Frey calls bullshit on a self defense justification, it must really be bullshit.

It's common knowledge in abolitionist circles, but it really is chilling how many bullshit justifications there are of shooting somebody in a car because the cop said the car was driving toward them.

The Park Board will be working to ensure Minneapolis residents can gather and grieve in our parks.

My resolutions for today's meeting will be pulled to focus on our resolution taking action on ICE terror.

Please stay safe and take care.

We need ICE Gestapo to leave our state immediately.

When a cop murdered my big brother at a road block 21 years ago, their post-facto justification was that he tried to run over a cop.

His foot released the brake after the officer shot him in the chest, and the car bumped an officer.

This is a time for 1000s of mass meetings across the country to specifically address ICE & Border Patrol actions.

1. We need standardized agendas.
2. We need standardized teach ins - with local specificities.
3. We need mass meetings to happen in the same month.
4. Local officials must attend.

Ironic for me to be saying this from states away, but nonetheless: please center attention on reporting *directly from Minneapolis* in relation to ICE’s descent on the area. Share credible information offered through named sources. Anticipate that initial reports contain inaccuracies.

This is massively important to remember, my grieving friends.

Please remember this.

All of these murders are evil, but what happened just now is not the first.
It's very clear from the commentary exploding on the timeline right now that hardly anyone outside Chicago knows ICE shot and killed a man in his car here in the fall.

It's probably not your fault—too much news.

But if you're choosing to jump in & *report* today, please contextualize. Thanks.

I am aware of an incident involving ICE shooting an observer in the Central neighborhood in South Minneapolis. I am on the scene and my team and I will do everything we can to learn more information, share updates and demand justice, accountability and safety for our neighbors.

Someone who claims to have witnessed the incident says
- car was blocking ice
- they told them to move
- "something happened'
- ICE shot into the car as it was driving away
- passenger got out of the car covered away and said friend was dead

There is video and I have seen it

🧵Neighbors, please be aware that there has been an increase in already very escalated immigration enforcement activity these past few days, with reports that roughly 2,000 agents will be sent to the Twin Cities over the course of a month-long deployment.
