“We’re holding our own”
Check in on your MN friends. Ask how they're doing. If they say:

"Pretty good, you?" They're probably ok.

"Just fine, howryou?" They're struggling, exhausted, hanging on but close to the edge.

"Oh, doin ok" Send help. The situation is desperate.

One thing I’d like to see is my senators and governor every day on tv at 5pm holding a press conference with video of every documented abuse that ICE is doing. Curate all of the witnessing we’re doing and show it to the press.
Local parents groups asking if adults can ride school buses to help protect children from ICE after a special ed bus got stopped this morning. Like a Dirty Harry movie except the villain in the federal government.

Evict ICE, not us.

Allowing our neighbors to be evicted because ICE has made it impossible for them to pay rent is unacceptable. Minneapolis needs an immediate eviction moratorium to keep people in their homes.

Everything you can do to slow down ICE's ethnic cleansing pogrom will save lives.

If you make it so it takes 12 goons to do a 6-goon job, you're saving lives. Every minute they spend in location 1 is a minute they can't spend in location 2.

Every squad they deploy to your city saves another city.
Every extra hour that ICE spends facing off with activists is an hour they can't spend kidnapping other people.

Every extra minute ICE has to spend contingency planning around activists and neighbors, every extra officer ICE has to put on a kidnap squad, is a drain on their efficiency.

school bus driver? you’re doing great.

social worker? you’re doing great.

phlebotomist? you’re doing great.

personal care attendant? you’re doing great.

addiction counselor? you’re doing great.

school nutrition worker? you’re doing great.
if you are successfully staying focused and making sure systems of care are operating through this time of crisis, you are doing great.

children and elders and vulnerable people and people seeking medical and mental health care—they all need you to be consistent.

you’re doing a great job.

Trying to explain what it feels like in the Twin Cities right now to people who aren’t here and haven’t experienced this is genuinely crazy-making.

Hey Minnesota: DON’T TAKE THE BAIT! of believing that any local politician gives a shit about you if the only action they *ever* take is to lecture, arrest, and assault people protesting the murderers running wild in their communities.
If you sit on any major street in the Twin Cities, within 5 minutes you'll see black SUVs racing around, doubling the speed limit. Passing on narrow two lane roads. It's absolutely insane right now.
i’m at plymouth church for their sunday forum with edwin of the immigrant defense network speaking now. there are samosas in the lobby

edwin says we have about 3k ICE agents here and more coming. largest deployment of ICE agents in the country’s history

I have never in my entire life in Minnesota spent more than 5 minutes stuck in the snow before at least 1, if not multiple folks popped up out of thin air to come help me out. Proud of my fellow Minnesotans for knowing better than to help these schmucks out.
This morning in Minneapolis, an ICE vehicle got stuck on an icy hill in a residential neighborhood. Agents had to push the vehicles out, some almost slipping in the ice themselves.

and also, if I may, it's actually pretty goddamn miraculous just how calm we ARE remaining
I very much understand that officials need to try to keep peace.
But a large portion of my friends spend their days watching pick up/drop off of their local schools as the only bulwark against armed thugs on our streets. You HAVE to have a better plan than tell people to remain calm.
Trump sent thousands of armed federal officers into our state, and it took just one day for them to kill someone.

Now he wants nothing more than to see chaos distract from that horrific action.

Don’t give him what he wants.

"more than ten people at the protest"
More than 5,000 people here in Powderhorn Park protesting ICE’s occupation of Minneapolis.

I spent a couple hours on this icy hill helping people who got stuck halfway up.

hundreds of people trekking across the frozen lake (just to get to the bottom of a frozen hill! that they still had to climb!) just to get to the START of the protest march
