“Minneapolis ward boundaries changed slightly between 2021 and 2025 due to redistricting.”

That’s a major understatement. Ward 3 shedded nearly 10k voters in redistricting. Ward 2 lost 5k voters.

If you’re reporting on voter turnout, either compare with current precinct boundaries or don’t do it.

2008 Obama campaign looked at MS, w its large & potentially huge Black share of the electorate, & calculated they could win if they moved the white vote from iirc 18% Dem to 22% Dem. They polled, they did focus groups, tried all kinds of messages & concluded nothing could get them to 22% of whites
I understand why a lot of white liberals are like, fuck the south, because they think about the people in power who are mostly white conservatives. But that is only because of Jim Crow, voter suppression, a lack of real funding for Dems there

During the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, a marble statue of Louis Agassiz fell from 2nd floor of Stanford's Zoology building into main quad.

Professor Frank Angell reportedly quipped:
"Agassiz was great in the abstract but not in the concrete."

The statue was unharmed, returned to its perch...

The reduction in new houses being built swamps effects from lower demand

After the University president took a job as a corporate board member for an insurance company. Killed off the General College killed off the men’s tennis program and track and field and give more and more.

The University if Minnesota is not operating like a public institution.

Doctors and nurses and caregivers they make healthcare not executives at United health group or Regents for the University of Minnesota. They’re just trying to get a cut. Everybody just wants a slice of the pie, but people just want healthcare. And nurses and doctors just wanna give it to us.

Which side is Blois on? And the StarTribune and their “partners” at Goff Public?

Labor is with the doctors and their contract.
Some whiplash going on in my inbox, and on the front page; either a great deal for the U or a terrible one; depends on whether you are listening to University of Minnesota Physicians, or the University of Minnesota 😳

A bit of a shitshow, to be honest 🤦🏻‍♂️

There are a ton of dynamics here. Walz, unions, health care funding, the corporatized U - which is now more of a private/public partnership than a state landgrant institution. So many dollars at stake and all sorts of dominoes for tuition, rankings, and the 2026 elections.

Seems like a disastrous outcome for the U, altho also hard to see what alternatives were even on the table at this pt

The StarTribune is now just selling stories under its masthead and branding to lobbying firms. Goff Public led the effort to privatize prisons.

And if there was ever a time to question Minnesota‘s love of nonprofits, its right now. More than a $1 billion disapeared through nonprofit fraud.

Ilhan began as a union school nutrition organizer. She has the support of Hakeem Jefferies Gov Walz, Senator Klobuchar, Senator Tina Smith, and soon all of organized labor. No Democratic Party entity should waste a penny challenging a 4 term leader of the Labor wing of the Democratic Party.
I hope we give no more attention to Reeves' candidacy and instead invest our efforts into ensuring we reelect Congresswoman Omar to the US House of Representatives along with progressive champions across the state for state house, state senate, US house and US senate.
