The StarTribune is now just selling stories under its masthead and branding to lobbying firms. Goff Public led the effort to privatize prisons.

And if there was ever a time to question Minnesota‘s love of nonprofits, its right now. More than a $1 billion disapeared through nonprofit fraud.

BREAKING: Elite New Yorkers Have “concerns”

Meanwhile, Andrew Cuomo is still the same person as he was when he was a younger Andrew Cuomo.

What even is this Twins Way La Velle E. Neal III speaks of? Injuries? Strikeouts? The crucial spring training schedule?

He has a lot more faith than I do in the mythology of Twins baseball.

Either I just learned something new and vital from La Velle E. Neal III,
or he is overstating the integral importance of Grapefuit league schedule-making on the success of Major League Baseball teams.

The city of Minneapolis is using taxpayer dollars for paid ads targeting senior citizens reminding them to vote.
November 1, 2025 at 1:55 PM
This Jacob Hill quote gives away the Frey team‘s true mission: to control the Minneapolis politics from the outside. Their motivation is not the betterment of Minneapolis citizens. Their profit-driven cause is about the full metro area economy - to help both Republicans and Democrats get rich.

This is such complete and utter patronizing bullshit from the guy paid by Republicans to defeat labor candidates.

He’s saying: We agree on the goals. The divide is who wants change—and who wants to be invited to the meeting where change is declared impossible.

My biggest professional regret is helping to elect Jacob Frey. That year CM Palmisano had on her website wordart touting that “In Minneapolis We Dont Build Walls We Building Community.“

Well. This is Jacob Frey’s Minneapolis 8 years later. Walls everywhere. The ultimate failing of a city.
October 30, 2025 at 8:10 PM
This is who Jacob Frey choses as his trusted advisers: Jonathan Weinhagen led the pledge at his inauguration. Senior policy aide Abdi Saleh executed a share of the feeding our future fraud from within the mayors office. Sergeant Gordon Blackie, his former security detail, was charged with stalking.

Google research is increasing. The related queries from Google trends For Frey are: Frey net worth, Jacob Frey salary, and is Jacob Frey republican or Democrat?

The Fateh related searches (with more search volume since July) are more innocuous. omar fateh “controversy” is the 7th ranked query.

Here's the data. There are 322,000 jobs in Minneapolis. Down a bit from a high of 335k in 2019. Jobs per "establishment" is at the lowest rate of this century (meaning smaller employers).

Meg Forney with paid ads targeting the upscale MinnPost voters.

The more recent Google trends data only gets better for Fateh as we get closer to the election. The election in earnest (searches for both) began about 10/1. In the entire metro Fateh is getting more attention and in Mpls alone getting 59% of the searches to 41% for Frey.
October 21, 2025 at 6:45 PM
Just in Minneapolis over the last year, Fateh has had 56% of the searches between he and Frey while Frey has had 44%. Again, Frey is a known entity so not really a surprise that he necessitates less research.
October 21, 2025 at 6:37 PM
I continue to be impressed with Senator Omar Fateh's performance in the Google Trends over Mayor Frey. Unlike Frey's opponents in 2021, name recognition will not be Fateh's problem.

The biggest single event in the race thus far was the DFL convention in July, causing a huge spike for Fateh.

I would like to congratulate the StarTribune for recognizing the existence of Park Point In Duluth. Many there would appreciate *less* coverage of this gem.

Mayor Frey refuses to strengthen the city’s separation ordinance, using the assassination of Melissa Hortman to justify it.

If the Mayors office insists on revisiting 6/14, ok. Let’s talk about MPD’s completely incompetent response and failure to protect legislators. Zero of whom support him.
October 19, 2025 at 3:05 PM
It also appears that just this week, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's endorsement of Fateh caused another spike. The DFL convention and Ilhan spike are larger than similar spikes for Frey related to his endorsement from Governor Walz.

Again, this all may be doom searches, but Fateh is getting attention.
October 14, 2025 at 5:43 PM
Some takeaways: Fateh does seem to have name recognition, and people are researching and making informed decisions. In both 2017 and 2021, Frey led by these measures at the end.

Also of note, the DFL convention led to a surge in Fateh searches and has been the most consequential event thus far.

2. This shows searches metrowide, so this would also include those outside of Minneapolis (there is a city breakdown, see below). 3. While this at times has corresponded to votes (it did for Frey in 2017), it's also possible folks research and then don't vote for the subject of the search.
October 14, 2025 at 5:43 PM
One of my favorite methods for tracking certain kinds of campaigns (like Mpls mayor) is Google Trends. Caveats. 1. Searches only for Mayor Frey and Senator Fateh are measured, as they have existing offices. Attempts to include other candidates didn't work well, or they're not generating searches.

The hellscape of Minneapolis and Council Member Alondra Cano and community leaders played a huge role in boosting Indigenous People’s Day in 2015. It sparked a national movement.

President Biden officially recognized Indigenous Peoples' Day with a presidential proclamation in 2021.
October 13, 2025 at 3:41 PM
The City of Minneapolis apparently is using the federal shutdown to update their language around the separation ordinance.

There seems to be some inherent conflicts here. www.minneapolismn.gov/government/p...

MPD is there to “protect you” but what if people need protection from ICE?
