I moved to Minnesota in June 2023 during a day when the air smelled like a campfire. When I’ve asked longtime Minnesotans about the increasingly severe smoke during our summers, they all say it was never a problem until a few years ago. And wow, this graph has got the receipts.

We should build a lot more of the safest types of homes.
Modern Multifamily Buildings Provide the Most Fire Protection
A large body of research has demonstrated that apartment buildings and other types of multifamily housing can provide many benefits to a community, especially when built in high-demand areas where…

Basic human needs are basic human rights.
Public transportation.
Public homes, means we need to legalize building more homes.
A Universal Basic Income for the costs of living like food, shelter, communication (your phone bill), etc.
Universal Healthcare, now.

We can live in a better world.

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

MY FELLOW AMERICANS: Watch how modular in-street recycling/trash collection works. Common across Europe, it is a great solution for urban areas.

Every single corner and every place two different materials meet is another potential leak
One way to reduce condo defect liability: stop forcing architects to design buildings that leak. HCD’s “objective design standards” guide *encourages* making building envelopes more complex, heightening leak and therefore defect lawsuit risk cao-94612.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/documents/Ap...

This is why i hate "exercise" and going for a walk or ride without a purpose. The thing itself is just not fun, and therefore not sustainable.
They just become more familiar, so I dont have to dedicate as much thought to the steps.

Every single time I've brushed or flossed my teeth, for 37 years, it's been a series of conscious actions that require thought and willpower.

Nothing gets to be automatic.

This is the big thing!

It's actually really bad that congressional salaries are just $174,000 for the demands on their time and the amounts of travel they have to do.

The mayor of Minneapolis makes $140,000. State legislators in MN make 51,000, significantly below market for the metro.
ryan is right. people HATE hearing this. but it is just a matter of simple incentives. if you want a more representative legislature — and if you want a legislature more resistant to corruption — then you need to jack up the salaries. serving as mayor of NYC should net you a cool 500K *at least*
people hate hearing this but it's 100% true, creating a huge pay gap between political leaders, their staffs, and other elites is a recipe for corruption. of course the flip side of that is taxes on the rich should be jacked way the hell up

If you're a taxpayer in Minneapolis without kids, you can still do this too.
If you are a parent of a kid in Minneapolis public schools, please, please, PLEASE take 2 minutes to email the school board (SchoolBoard@mpls.k12.mn.us) and superintendent (mpssup@mpls.k12.mn.us) to tell them to settle with the educators' union and give them what they want. Your emails truly help!

My heart is full 💙 but unfortunately so are these classes!

Can you email the school board and tell them what our students, our educators, and our city deserves?

Left NIMBYs claim developers will stop building housing before it lowers rents, but in reality over-exuberant developers will definitely over-build if you give them half a chance.

When that happens brand new buildings can become subsidized housing with shockingly little hassle.

People are out here blaming RCV for Jacob's win. And I cannot stress this enough: RCV had literally nothing to do with it. Everything about this outcome was entirely predictable. Jacob had huge structural advantages: compliant local media, off-cycle election, PAC $, patronage networks.

Can we finally put to bed the idea that we should be meek and "safe" and run to the middle??

Universal (or at the very least, affordable) childcare and healthcare. Housing that fits our families and our budgets. Trans rights. Repro rights. Free and fair elections.

And oh yeah, hope and joy.
