As someone who grew up Lutheran in MN, I concur. I meet ppl surprised to hear how multi cultural the twin cities are and I tell them @ the church’s support for refugees going back to the early 70’s when I was a kid. Not just Lutherans. It’s def a strong cultural MN thing to help “others”.
I hate to admit it, but the Lutherans get a lot of credit for helping to maintain the Minnesota culture of mutual aid. Not for starting it, not the sole keeper of the flame, but for sure aiding its presence. As I've written, MSP has the largest per-capita population of refugees in the country!
