Despite a statutory deadline requiring all of the files to be released by Dec. 19, 5.2 million documents remain to be reviewed and disclosed. It’s likely that the final public release will not occur until the end of February — one full year after Pam Bondi ordered the release of the records.

The big story has been the collapse of legacy media and big law as a bulwark against authoritarianism.

I started a law firm in 2021 to fight for free and fair elections.

Many states controlled by Democrats also have barriers to voting and insufficient protections against bad actors at the local level. Rather than play defense, these states should embrace reforms that will enfranchise voters and provide strong safeguards against election deniers.

The truth seems obvious to anyone willing to open their eyes. Trump has decided that whatever the files contain is more damaging to him than the political cost of keeping them under wraps as the country clamors for their release. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/for-...

Donald Trump's unprecedented data grab is central to a broader strategy of voter suppression, election subversion, and litigation designed to undermine free and fair elections in 2026 and beyond. This is the biggest fight for free and fair elections we have faced in years.

If Donald Trump wanted these records reviewed and released quickly, they would be. Lawyers from other government agencies could be deployed to assist with the review. Nonlawyers could handle many of the administrative tasks. Trump could pressure compliant private law firms to contribute resources.

There are chilling words and a telling comparison as we head towards elections in 2026 and 2028.
FOX: Will you throw your support behind María Corina Machado?

TRUMP: Well, we're gonna have to look at it. Right now, they have a VP as you know. But the election of Maduro was a disgrace just like my election was a disgrace. 2020 was a disgrace -- a real disgrace -- now 2024 was too big to rig.
