Since February, according to my latest analysis, almost 600,000 Black women have been economically sidelined. The November 20, 2025, Jobs Report makes clear this isn’t a blip. It’s a structural crisis. That is not a recovery. It is a redistribution of opportunity.
The exit economy is here. Black Women are paying the highest price | Fortune

IMPORTANT. Mixed families, British partners of settled immigrants: please fill this survey out. We must make our voices heard. Too often, a small but loud minority prevails. Let's be louder. We are not a drain on this country. WE ARE THIS COUNTRY. It's about time someone in power noticed.
As the partner of an immigrant, this is very close to my heart. The pathways into this country have always been inhumane, but these proposed changes make them more so, relying on subjective, vague, and - frankly - Victorian notions such as 'character'. If you've got a minute, could you have a go?
For those of you in the UK, especially if you are a UK citizen, can you please take part in the consultation on changes to Indefinite Leave to Remain (Settlement) that were just proposed by the UK government. We need as many people as possible to reject these proposals. www.gov.uk/government/c...

What many politicians don't realise - or want to understand - is that many of the "highly-skilled" immigrants whose labour they crave were raised by the same asylum seekers and refugees they openly despise. They take the racist political rhetoric personally, and act accordingly. Why wouldn't they?
"Record numbers of overseas-trained doctors are quitting the UK, leaving the NHS at risk of huge gaps in its workforce, with hostility towards migrants blamed for the exodus...the NHS is so heavily reliant on doctors from elsewhere – 42% of its entire medical workforce qualified overseas."
All those people, including current government, who falsely claim migrants are to blame for failings with the NHS, along with infrastructure in general, are in for one hell of a shock with how much worse things will get with Labour's anti-immigration policies.

Definitely read @kjcharleswriter.com's thread. This is why writers look at you blankly (or tell you a PO Box in Poughkeepsie) when you ask where do you get ideas, or talk about offering them an idea & splitting the paycheck.

We have a half dozen ideas before breakfast. That's an idea--not a story.
Excellent thread tying this perennial question to the appeal of ChatGPT and other superficial text vending machines for the non-writer. Applicable to artists, musicians etc as well.
I've had a few 'what do you do' convs recently, and everyone on hearing I'm an author comes out with "so how do you come up with ideas?", just like every book or movie about a writer has them staring numbly into space because they don't have an idea for the next book. And look, that is Not It.

"Taking the fear out", an old Cypriot ritual:

* A pan face-down over a fire.
* Think of what you fear, the ritualist's hand on your head.
* Two caged birds close by.
* Water poured onto the pan so it hisses.
* Leap over that and the fire.
* The birds will absorb your fear.

It's time for the English to return to the Old Ways, find the hidden tomb, wake the true High King who will draw his sword, cleave the veil between worlds and chase away all demons with a light that is both Song and Terror
“It is time for the English to ally with the hard men, like Tommy Robinson, and fight for their survival or they shall surely all die” says Musk.
It is time for the government and everyone else to finally accept Musk is a national security threat.

I was going to post snarkily about how a library is better than a ballroom, but became distracted by thoughts of a bibliophilic Cinderella. Cinders wants to read at the Institut de Paris, but has no pass. Fairy godmother appears to give her a metro ticket and lifetime membership. There is no prince.
"Housed in the Palais de l’Institut in Paris, La bibliothèque de l’Institut de France was founded in 1797 and serves its five academies. It preserves about 1.5 million works, more than 10,000 manuscripts, and countless prints, maps, and artworks."
