Very happy with the Palestine Action ruling.
A9 getting glowing feedback at her parents' evening last night.
And, not great news but I forgot the lid wasn't on my big black cup and consequently tipped half a gallon of water all down my front - which made me laugh.

Honestly it's been a horrible week of illnesses, car accident and medical rubbish but then today I got to give away 200 books to students and staff at a blind date with a book event I arranged and that has really cheered me up.

FUNNY!
Mass confusion when I was picking up parcel. Lady 1 goes to leave .
Lady 2 “wait this isn’t for the right person…did she just pick up a parcel for the name Bennett? That’s my name too!”
Benny Hill-like chase through store commences…
2 parcels 2 Bennetts….WHAT ARE THE ODDS? 😂

Listened to a podcast interview about taskmaster - how they created it, how they make decisions etc - and it clarified for me that what I like about it are greg's arbitrary judgements.

This means that even if Palestine Action ad not won on Human Rights Act/ECHR grounds, Palestine Action would have won on another ground.

No doubt this will be missed by a lot of media reporting of this judgment, but even if HRA repealed etc, Palestine Action would have *still won*.

Does anyone know if there are official recommended writing mentoring rates anywhere for UK-based writers? The Society of Authors say they do, but when you scroll down the page they don't.

There are some Star Trek fans weirdly obsessed with “decorum” and they really fixate on how Holly Hunter sits in the captain’s chair on STARFLEET ACADEMY. One guy left a comment on the official FB whining about it and so Captain Janeway herself responded to drop the hammer

The High Court has ruled on our challenge to the EHRC’s interim guidance.

The judgment contains some good news for trans rights – but plenty of bad.

Conclusion on ground 2 - the decision to seek proscription was contrary to the Human Rights Act 1998 because it amounted to an unjustified interference with the rights
protected by the European Convention on Human Rights.

When the bench was suddenly "beefed up" I sensed such a win was a possibility.

See quoted post from two months ago - against those then insisting this was a bad sign for the applicant.

If you are going to quash a terrorism SI you want a strong bench.

Less so when siding with the government.
Maybe.

Or maybe the court realises this will be a judgment which requires a “strong bench”.

Courts can be like the first dance at Jack Rabbit Slim: you never can tell.
The judge due to rule on the proscription of Palestine Action is swapped last minute for a panel that includes a judge with a history of working for the government and another who ruled in favour UK selling jets to Israel.

Accusations of a “stitch-up”.

It is very difficult to defeat the government on any terrorism judicial review

It is also very difficult to defeat the government when challenging a statutory instrument, terrorism or otherwise.

Legally this is a *huge* achievement for the applicants.
