Roll up, roll up, as I make the bone-crushing TBR pile DISAPPEAR!

Here is a thread of my mountain of books!
Join me as I read through them & absolutely under no circumstances buy more!

What's first, I hear you ask?
I'll be adding the first book soon, because I'm going to cheat and begin in 2025.
In 2026, I want to get through my TBR.
There are at least 85 books on it! 😅 (I didn't count library or ebooks)

Most are TOMBS rather than quick reads. So far my plan is:
- prioritise borrowed books, review copies & world issues
- read a short book every 3 books
- see if I can audiobook any
Help? 😂
Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer is a book I'd actually call life-changing, without hyperbole. It invites a way of thinking that if we all adopted it, would probably fix the relationship we have with the world. If you read no other books I recommend, read this one.

Reposting this because the kind replies contain recommendations for so many excellent folk to follow that it may be helpful for others.

Thank you to everyone who responded and keep the links coming!
So. We need to fill our feed out a little. Tell us who we should be following for the good genre and genre adjacent stuff. Authors, reviewers, commentators, all the good people.

Fun, serious, wry, excitable - bring them all.

Yes! This book is amazing. It was like medicine for my soul, too.
I am currently reading 'My Roommate is a Vampire' by @jennalevine.bsky.social and it is like medicine for my frazzled soul.

I just thought everyone should know because maybe I'm not the only one who feels like they're living in a dumpster fire, and maybe you need this book too.

I've honestly not known snow this bad before - it just won't stop! about an hour after I'd cleared that there was another 5cm.

Toooooooooooooo much snow.

It was pretty while we were still on holiday. I'm so over it now.

You might not have heard from me in a while - I've been taking a break from social media.

I'm just here to show you how much snow I shovelled off 2 cars and a trailer this morning.

I'm absolutely not going anywhere, but my anxiety worried about the cars being crushed under the weight.

These are the books I read in 2025 - my aim was 52. I couldn't have done it without my local library & the lovely people who send me books to review.
You'll notice lots of #kidlit and lots of graphic novels, lots of audiobooks and so much fluff.
Read what makes you happy in a way that works for you.

It's the national year of reading in the uk in 2026. Instead of asking "why don't kids read any more", ask "how can I help them find the stories (and non fic) they will fall in love with". Less "get off my lawn whippersnappers" and more "come, sit on the lawn, here's a comic".

Pink Pilled by Lois Shearing was excellent - a book about why women join the far right, even if it harms them. Very readable, and a great introduction to the topic. I would have liked more about the so called 'pro-life' and 'gender critical' lot, but I still learned lots.

The Last Bear by Hannah Gold was gorgeous - perfect for anyone who cares about the climate but feels utterly helpless. We *can* all do something; it might not be rescuing a polar bear, but we can believe what children tell us & put the world at the centre of our decision-making.

The Reading List was really good - A love-letter to libraries. I especially loved the relationship between Aleisha, the young library assistant and Mukesh, a pensioner getting into reading for the first time. I'd read most of the books referenced, so that was nice too.

I am doing a shockingly bad job of staying off here, but I just wanted to shout about @bigthinkpublishing.bsky.social 's new anthology 'The Leaves Still Fallow'.

I'm in it!!

As the back says, 'every copy sold helps to support the work of TransActual and Mermaids'.

Magic Christmas present. 💪

I got my book today and it is absolutely glorious, and I love it. The husband backed it for me when it was first announced and it was SO worth the wait.
The endpaper text was so needed today.🥹
