Looking for a book for a kiddo who loves dogs? It's short (169 p)! It's funny! There is goose poop! "Not since Ramona Quimby has a character marched right out of a book with so much bravado, humor, and heart."--Barbara O'Connor #booksky

I'm reading a good kidlit book from a big 5 publisher + the cover looks like something I'd have come up with when I was 10 +thought I needed to illustrate my own stuff. Somehow people thought this was good? It screams old-timey, don't read me, same color scheme as a great-grandma's Corelle* dishes.

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

So the only Minnesota content I'm interested in this weekend is stories of critical hypothermia. Give me advanced frostbite. Permanent nerve damage, gangrene, and amputations that ruin their ahistorical Viking tattoos. 7/8

Student 1: You got an A on the final paper?! I wanted an A but I got an F! Will you give me your A paper?

Student 2: Uh….sure.

Student 2 hands him the paper with a big red A at the top.

Student 2 still gets an A.
Student 1 still fails, but he’s grinning and holding an A paper.

Cold mornings in Ohio. Decide to drive kids to the bus stop. Pull on my knit cap. I'm never not going to think of Renee Good when I do that.

After federal troops forced a fugitive slave named Anthony Burns back into slavery in the 1850s, one Bostonian wrote, “we went to bed one night old-fashioned, conservative, Compromise Union Whigs and waked up stark mad Abolitionists.” The abuse of power radicalizes people. We are seeing that now.

No words. Renee Good was alive and suffering from gunshot wounds while her killers not only did not help her but prevented others from helping. Appalling violation of fundamental decency, rules of war (!), and humanitarian principles. #ReneeGood
Holy shit.

Renee Good was alive when the bystander physician asked to check her pulse. She was alive when ICE refused to let him help. She was alive when they told him “I don’t care.”

Today is the official release day for Sanibel! This one has a special place in my heart because I made it for my dad, who was an insatiable shark tooth collector and who loved shells as well. He got to play a pre-production copy on Sanibel about 6 weeks before he died last year.

Love you dad ♥️

Kyrsten Sinema was the Kash Patel of John Fettermans
I'm not going to focus on the MANY salacious claims in this lawsuit (there are SO MANY), but more broadly, the lawsuit suggests Sinema really did spend a ton of time jetting around the country to have fun rather than focus on her responsibilities as a US Senator.

My daughter's school in Richfield, MN (adjacent to Minneapolis) is closing tomorrow due of out-of-control federal agents. Fourth graders spent the week building walls of snow at recess to protect their classmates from ICE. This isn't about immigration enforcement, it's about terror.

🧵From St. Paul, MN.

The last few nights have been different. ICE kidnappings seemed like a daytime event until this week, but now ICE is active after sundown. The shooting of a civilian by ICE in North Minneapolis is also a grim sign for anyone who lives here.

Someone on reddit mentioned if you're in the apple-sphere: Settings > General > dictionary > unselect ‘Apple dictionary’

And that really has seemed to do the trick for me.
