Oh, hey, got 10k followers without seeing it today. Hello! I write books and stuff. Got a new YA coming out in April (and a MG in September and an adult novel next February and I am tired). I support Japanese food, Buffy rewatches and trans rights. I don't support golf.
I was a late-ish adopter of BlueSky, but now I'm only 32 people away from 10k followers. That would be cool. This is in no way a hint. Not at all. This weather, right?

I mean, come on, if your position requires you to agree with Putin, Trump, and Musk; to ignore the lived experience of children and adults; to ignore the entire medical community and a hundred years of history; and if your only "safe place" online is a child-porn generating website, then maybe...

Support every trans, non-binary or questioning person you know. Speak out for those you don’t. Vote for politicians who want to expand humanity, not shrink it. And for god’s sake, stop buying Harry Potter or the works of those who want to ruin the lives of our loved ones out of their own ignorance.

Trans kids are dying, will die (these are proven facts) for no purpose other than the distaste of powerful people who have zero experience or apparently empathy.

The new, poisonous “guidance” for trans kids in schools has no foundation in science or medicine. It forces trans and non-binary kids back into the closet purely for the comfort of a loud, radicalized minority. And that’s gone so well, historically.

I am one of the most published academics on the childhood social transition, with 5 peer reviewed articles that relate to the topic.

There is so much evidence of benefit of social transition.

There is no evidence of harm. Not one jot.

This will literally kill trans kids. No exaggeration.

Dogs don't necessarily need to dream, I guess, but it's so amazing that they do. My little fat cockapoo, sleep-barking at dream squirrels, sleep-running her little feet, even sometimes having a happy dream and wagging her tail. The world is afire, but dogs dream.

Absolutely true, and the rates vary WILDLY. Had two quotes for one book. One artist asked for 250 Euro. The other for £10,000. No joke.
Unsolicited writing advice, no. 643: It may be tempting to include song lyrics in your work. (And why not? Stephen King does it all the time.) But beware; the rights to even a line of a song can run into the thousands of pounds- and the publisher will expect YOU to pay for them…

This El Paso stuff is really unsettling. Feels like a government preparing for war on its own country.

I just cannot get over how embarrassing this is of Wes Streeting. The naked desperation, the brain-spangling disingenuousness, a politician of the very very worst kind. So desperate to impress big boys, he might as well be a widdling puppy.

Ignore the smears: I was never a close friend of Peter Mandelson. And I fully understand the lessons we must learn | Wes Streeting
I knew him but not well, and worry now that he thrived in our political culture. There was a failure of moral seriousness, says health secretary Wes Streeting
