It's important to note that ICE initially lied that they'd taken Marta Leiva at the SLC airport. How can they expect anyone to trust an organization that will just blatantly lie? And what purpose does the lie serve? It reeks of a bumbling group enacting violence with no accountability.

This has been a really rough few days. I recently learned of a controversy around our book THE PRINCESS IN BLACK AND THE PRINCE IN PINK. Some were outraged that Deseret Book carried it (a chain of bookstores in the west). Deseret Book appears to have complied to their demands and removed it. 1/

I'm shaking almost too hard to type. I entered SLC airport and heard screams and cries for help. I could see people gathered around, watching. I sped over to discover this woman face down on the floor, four grown men pushing her down, while she cried "HELP ME" and pled for her child.

Humans are wired for community. We need it. When we are rejected by our community, it's so painful, like the worst kind of torture, so naturally we want to LEAVE that community. With kids and teens, their options for leaving are limited. Tell the young in your life--I want you here. No matter what.
