NEW: We sent a letter to the Ohio Secretary of State informing him that the state's new law mandating secretive voter purges violates the National Voter Registration Act.

This law will cause qualified voters in Ohio to lose their right to vote with little time for recourse.

Those aren't hallucinations.

It's 100% obvious this mushroom lets you see the fairies.
With most psychedelic drugs, you never know what you're going to get. But this mysterious mushroom from China - without fail - causes users to hallucinate tiny people: crawling up walls, popping out from under furniture and marching under doors. www.bbc.com/future/artic...

Only recently described by science, the mysterious mushrooms are found in different parts of the world, but they give people the same exact visions.

Tragically, we have seen incidents where people try to heat their homes using charcoal grills. Burning charcoal releases carbon monoxide. Never try to heat your home with a charcoal grill.

CW grief

a year ago today, my grandfather died. Last week, I taught my mixed media class how to use traditional Chinese ink like how he taught me. Grief is weird, and time continues.

I wrote this game a year ago for the #36wordGameJam as a way to process my grief and I’d love to reshare it now 🫶🏼

Hearing about the rush at the grocery stores today—it’s hard not to feel the weight of the coming storm. But as we stock our own pantries, I’m thinking about our neighbors for whom stocking up isn't an option.

Stay safe, check on your neighbors, and let’s look out for one another this weekend. ❄️
Take time to check your emergency kit. Your kit should include:
✔️ Water & non-perishable food (3+ days)
✔️ Phone charger or backup battery
✔️ Flashlight, radio, & extra batteries
✔️ First aid kit & medications
✔️ Items for pets, babies & personal hygiene

All the alpaca blankets are on the bed.

Going to be a long week.

Hello! I once almost died of carbon monoxide poisoning. If you feel queasy and suddenly exhausted don’t lay down for “just a minute” - run outside, breathe fresh air. The space between “I feel a little weird, I guess I slept bad/ate something weird” and death is like ten minutes.
Carbon monoxide deaths spike during power outages. Many times, this is due to portable generators being placed too close to people's homes or run indoors. Make sure you have working carbon monoxide alarms. Run your generator outdoors, at least 20ft away from your home.

One of the reasons I am so insistent that everyone remember that only 22% of the US population voted for Trump is that the Christian Nationalists want the myth of a mandate in circulation.

We need to reject it. They never had a mandate, and their coalition is shrinking.
The new NYT poll finds Trump 17 points underwater on immigration, and the nonwhite and young voters who went to Trump in 2024 have snapped back to Dems

It's almost as if 2024 might not have represented a seismic cultural realignment on immigration after all, despite 1,000 NYT op eds to the contrary

The GOP’s nearly century long project to roll back the New Deal in its entirety includes erasing any artistic or cultural legacy of it that would preserve the memory of it.

This is uncultured barbarism yes, but it’s also an attempt to erase history.

For people asking “why isn’t there a general strike?” earnestly, and not just to be a judgmental prick
Congress passed the Taft-Hartley Act in 1947 (over Truman's veto) to make general strikes so incredibly difficult to organize that there hasn't been one since.

That there is a general strike happening in a major US city on such short notice is nothing short of a miracle.
National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.
