I ended up on a SFFH writer’s list and so I say, welcome! To all who decided to drop by. You may not decide to stay, but I’ll tell you that polite unfollows are all part of social media. If BSky is your staying light place, no harm, no foul.

Just remember—we can mute words here. 1/

In the interim, here's a guide to turning a lot of this stuff off in Gmail -- ironically, provided by Proton!

A woman (20s?) in a sunny yellow gingham dress is standing in a sunbeam outside a cafe. Holding a tiny new human to her chest and gently rocking side to side. Looking down at Tiny New Human with a soft smile. This is love. (1)

Fuck. Make some calls, people (especially people who aren't, like, actively busy in war zones). (They really are attacking Minnesota on a zillion fronts.)

I don’t know who needs to see this but, if a short fiction contract is saying there’s a fee for withdrawing your work, that’s a massive red flag. Personally, I wouldn’t be signing that. 🚩🚩🚩 Read those contracts carefully, folks.

🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

Yeah we may need a thread of Tips For Surviving The Cold and/or Ice and/or Snow again. (As long as folks can like, be normal about it & not forget the entire south has like 7 snowplows)
Hey southerners, put a bunch of containers of kitty litter in your car right now. Put it under your front wheels if you get stuck and it will often give you enough traction to get out.

I wish folks outside the US could wrap their brains around the fact that our state-controlled-media is intentionally suppressing news about resistance. They are choosing not to cover protests. Listen to the people, not corporate media.
I remember how I was asked, live on German television, a mere 48 hours after No Kings II: “Why are there no protests?” And three months later, as the people of Minneapolis are standing in solidarity against the outrageous occupation of their city, I’m still getting that question in most interviews.

This is why sensory based food aversions are so common in Autism and ADHD. We can’t filter out the passive information that neurotypical folk can more easily do while eating. It’s also why I included information on creating sensory friendly environment when eating in COLOR TASTE TEXTURE.
Why Sensory Overload Isn’t About “Too Much”: Often, it’s about how much interpretive work the brain is being asked to do as it constantly combines sensory information to figure out what’s happening, and whether it matters. By @neuroscientist.bsky.social:

Sensory overload is often about uncertainty and how long the brain has to stay engaged—especially in autism and ADHD.

This feels like a combo of a shell game & a scrum run by people who have no idea how to run a corporation--& won't ask those who know.

And they're not answering questions.

See to your own health protection. Looks like HHS is going to be useless, the next emergency. :(

I was posting about this yesterday - the TFR added "mobile assets" - so you can't fly within 3,000 feet of any ICE, CBP or DHS ground vehicles - since they don't publish those locations and 3k agents are everywhere in Minneapolis, this is basically a license to arrest any drone pilot they don't like
Just noticed this new FAA NOTAM from Jan 16th, which prohibits drone operators from flying within 3000 feet laterally or 1000 feet above DHS, DOD, and DOE "facilities and mobile assets, including ground vehicle convoys and their associated escorts."
