This was definitely how A QUEEN FROM THE NORTH got built. A defaced government poster about unity in a train station. It opened up the whole plot to us before we even knew what we were about https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XBPDJPM?ref=KC_GS_GB_US

Really good blog here. It's obviously not the worst thing the administration has done but the extent to which Trump is dedicated getting his personal grease all over every public thing in DC, and making them more expensive, exclusive, and worse, is really infuriating. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/19/u...

84 years sounds like a long time. And I know in some ways it is. But it's also not that long. I still have living relatives who were in the camps and who were old enough to remember it. This isn't abstract or ancient history. It's part of the living memory I grew up with.
84 years ago today, President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, ordering the removal and incarceration of more than 120,000 Japanese Americans, about two-thirds of whom were US citizens. The Day of Remembrance this year comes as we see DHS buying land and warehouses for more camps now.

Making matters worse, the Trump admin is REFUSING to adjudicate green card applications for refugees who come from one of the 39 countries Trump banned.

So under this policy, a refugee who applies for a green card exactly on time, doing nothing wrong, can (and DHS says must) be jailed by ICE.

one reset I'd personally appreciate: behind the insistence that we must offer the electorate a little bigotry is the idea that commoners are more bigoted than the richer and more educated, who can be appealed to with high minded policy. but then you Ctrl+F "phrenology" in the Epstein files
What strikes me is that 'the volk' have incredibly incoherent and everywhere ideas, but the people who claim to speak for them in the press are like clerics who think there are two poles for all politics and everything must fit between them. These poles are like, eight inches apart

This is an important piece and you should read it.

Also, I wish journalists would stop saying immigrant families in MN are “staying home to avoid encounters with immigration.”

They’re IN HIDING. It isn’t a casual choice. They have been terrorized into hiding.

This is the kind of thing white supremacists have been doing to Emmett Till’s memorial for decades.

It’s wild to see them do this to a white woman who the entire world saw extrajudicially murdered.

How is he fighting for "liberty?" By helping Stephen Miller build a 324,000-foot prison for migrants and refugees.

Same is true with teachers. People have figured out that the folks who want to do these jobs want to do these jobs because of how much they care about others (far more than the owners of the healthcare biz) and use that humanity of theirs as a hostage tactic against them in salary negotiations.
It drives me insane because no nurse wants to "abandon" patients, but the only people abandoning them are those who write the payroll at the end of the day. They're the ones pushing nurses out!
