Okay new rule: if you respond to my jokes with advice and I don’t know you, I’m blocking you.

Good morning, by the way.
Ooo, it’s been more than 24 hours. Maybe this is finally it.
Every time, I find myself wondering if this is it, this is the time my handle is never coming back.

Listen, I don't know what is going on in the world of app ads but I was just shown an ad in which a cartoon hippo shakes its buttocks and anus at you, and this was for a tower defense game that as far as I know does not have hippos, buttocks, or anuses in it.

It seems that the passage of sufficient time changes just about any song from "annoying" to "pleasantly nostalgic" for me, and nowhere is this more apparent than with the theme song to Star Trek: Enterprise.

Hey fun fact my husband posted this how to flyer to Reddit, he's a dreamboat and I love him and ALSO HE'S RIGHT FUCK THIS SHIT RETURN YOUR RING CAMERA

Stick it to ICE and Amazon at the same time 🥰💛
People on Reddit are getting Amazon to refund their Ring products because of their partnership with Flock and that creepy Super Bowl ad

Kind of fun how when stuff is happening on the bsky back end, you start seeing "Invalid Handle" all over the place. It's the "Under Construction" gif of 2020s social media.

The other day I was thinking about how in season 3 of Picard, when they brought back the Enterprise D it looked really old-fashioned to my eye. It got me to thinking about how its design is a product of late-80s/early-90s aesthetics. I ended up deciding that the D is the Previa of Enterprises.

This is a bit random and yet quite specific: do I know any un- or under-employed (current or former) freelance book review assigning editors?? Do you??

If so, respond or tag someone.

I have a dream, an impossible dream maybe, but a dream no less.

I saw a person on TikTok say that adding kombu when pressure cooking beans helps break down the complex starches so you can digest it easier. So last night I put kombu in my beans. And now I have beans that taste distressingly of kombu.

Honestly, I don’t know what else I was expecting. 😅

I really wish that when you blocked somebody here, it also made them unfollow you. Some of the other things that Twitter could do that we can't do here, like having private accounts, I understand there are technical, protocol-based reasons why that's hard. But this one, I really don't get it.

Re: LRT. This is exactly what I’m talking about when I say that the Democrats don’t stand for anything and that it’s a problem that the party is defined only in terms of “not Republicans.”

I honestly don't know what the Democrats are promising to do if they win in November (either in the House or Senate).

Thinking a lot about how “if he wanted to, he would” applies to politicians, too

"Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work."

Why am I writing a report that literally no one wants to or will read?
"Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work."
"Feet go on the floor!"
"Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work."

YAML is very picky about formatting. You need to line that up with the section above.

Fundamentally, Peters is a person who cares more about order than he does about justice or fairness or democracy or environmental protection or morality. That should be disqualifying in a Democrat.
@repscottpeters.bsky.social was one of only 21 House Dems to vote Yes on the funding bill. In his statement he said "shutdowns should not be used as leverage." He also clearly believes training and mask restrictions are sufficient restraints on ICE. scottpeters.house.gov/2026/2/peter...

You ever see a meme that fits you so perfectly that you kind of can't believe that you don't know the person who made it, whoever they are?
February 6, 2026 at 7:46 PM
Yes! Having a brief moment of chagrin is not just okay, it is an important part of learning to be a kinder, more compassionate, and more moral person! Being able to sit with a little discomfort is one of the most important life skills.
If you're genuinely goodhearted, I know it sucks to get that kind of response, but again, this is a cumulative effect. It's exhausting for me (and the countless others I see post about this phenomenon), and you having a brief moment of chagrin is okay. It happens! And it's fine, we're good.

This is the thing about unsolicited advice. It's not actually for the recipient. It's for the person giving the advice. I wish more people understood this.
Hey, so if I ask a specific question and you reply with other, unsolicited advice, I'm very likely going to check you on it. That may seem rude because you're just trying to help! But it's condescending, happens every time I ask a question (and sometimes when I don't!), & I have no patience left.
