ISLAND OF LOVE blends myth, folklore, history & bio to tell the stories of me, my family and our motherland of Cyprus through the prism of our home deity, Aphrodite: goddess of love, beauty, desire... and conflict.

Not enough of you have checked in on me after this traumatic incident.
That frisson of excitement when the house lights go down because the show's about to start, and the elderly man next to you says, "Right. Shoes off."

It's just an effective way of meeting like-minded people from all over. (Granted, working as a Waterstones bookseller also did that, for both me and my husband.)

What a lovely thing to celebrate!

I've met so many people online over the years, which my husband thinks is weird. But in 2022, we met up with a pal in Miami, whom I'd known for longer than almost any friends in the UK. And I'm about to meet up with another such pal.
Today is INTERNET FRIENDS DAY which seems like a lovely thing. Very grateful to all the wonderful online connections I've made over the past few years. ❀️

Wtf, that's mad! Hope they get them, that's very concerning.

Every word of this thread.
Man I'm so goddamn sick of ai. "Wahhh you can't have a reasonable conversation about ai on here," yeah maybe be mad about the two year parade of scam artists and financial charlatans and environmental ruiners who have radicalized everyone against the spell check that agrees with you

If you want an editor or sensitivity reader / other expert to look over your manuscript *before querying*, that's on you. If you want pastries handmade by nuns in Andalusia and flown over for your book launch, that's on you too.

I need every traditionally published author* to know that you shouldn't have to pay for anything relating to your book, from its publication to its promotion.

*in the UK & US, at least

There is honestly almost nothing an author should have to pay for. At least in the UK and US.

Never cease to be amused by Brits annoyed that it's cold and wet. Isn't it winter for, like, another month?

Swedish storyteller Elsa Beskow turns 152 this week, reason enough to give you:

as this week’s #WyrdWednesday topic!

Come, tell tales, of elks, sea rovers and Nordic Noire!

What is their purpose? Do they charge for services or something? I just don't get why anyone would go through this instead of, like, earn a wage somewhere.

Mad.
The book club scam has taken an exciting new leap forward. I got one today from a "curated literary platform and newsletter" that, unusually, offered a link to its website. I'm in edits, so obviously I took the opportunity to procrastinate. /1
