Just read an article on what agents have been buying. How depressing, like scrolling through Netflix thumbnails and wondering how the hell these films got made.

Then I see what amazing books indie publishers are producing / indie bookshops are stocking and wonder how I’ll read them all.

Thanks Suzanne! And agreed @drewgum.bsky.social, we're really proud that we've been able to focus on amplifying voices that publishers with 1000x our budget seem keen to ignore, but it fills us with big feelings 🫠

POST - IT - NOTES FROM UNDERGROUND by Simon Crump.

It will blow the literary doors off.

One of the best books I've read in a couple of decades and why we started Bluemoose in the first place.

The tale of the frozen woodpecker will become literary lore.

There are so many superb books I'd like to acquire for translation but alas cannot afford to at the moment... but the big publishers continue churning out same old celebrity or trendy dross

Have to give huge props to @ortacpress.bsky.social for publishing a book as gnarly as Keshed in such a bland, safe market. I've been judging what used to be the Republic of Consciousness Prize this year and the indies are still on fire, taking risks on so much fresh, interesting work.

Had a short story accepted this morning. It marks the return of my character Tod Towski who I first wrote about 40 years ago at school.

Which makes it the longest running detective series in history with the biggest break?
