It doesn't matter what you think of Kermit the Frog or anyone that represents him. As a society, we must rally behind him, under the current set of circumstances we know to be possible about and around him, no matter what.

Awe inspires diminished focus on the self, increased prosocial relationality and a heightened sense of meaning.

Awe arises in encounters with stimuli that are vast such as other people’s courage and kindness, nature, collective gatherings, the arts, spiritual practice, epiphanies, birth, and death…
Awe as a Pathway to Mental and Physical Health
How do experiences in nature or in spiritual contemplation or in being moved by music or with psychedelics promote mental and physical health? Our proposal in this article is awe. To make this argument, we first review recent advances in the ...

Spanberger is a moderate Democrat who used to work for the C.I.-fucking-A. It should put the actions of Schumer and Jeffries into perspective for everyone. Are they Republicans? Because they sure act like it.

They need to get the fuck out.
NEW: Abigail Spanberger this afternoon ordered that all state agencies leave ICE's 287(g) program.

This means that the state police (and some other agencies) will no longer be empowered to detain and arrest people for ICE.

Big, big move by the governor within weeks of coming into office.
Virginia’s New Governor Ends ICE Program. Local Contracts Remain, For Now. - Bolts
Abigail Spanberger left the 287(g) program, which empowered state law enforcement to detain immigrants. Will Democrats also bar local police and sheriffs from the program?

Precisely.
If they said 3,000 agents were leaving MN today, I would not fully rejoice. Because those 3,000 would be headed elsewhere.

I don’t want them kidnapping ANYONE. I don’t want them breaking up ANY families.

I don’t want those 700 headed off to destroy other families!

Abolish ICE is the floor.

And this is where we get the infamous "This job sucks" comment, but the context is even crazier. Le is saying, "Your Honor, I'm actually the good guy here, I was able to get someone released. I'm trying to get them to comply." She's literally starting into the "you need me on that wall" argument!

Immigrants are carrying this country on their backs while the right screams into the void.

Here’s the Cato Institute report:

Cato Study: Immigrants Reduced Deficits by $14.5 Trillion Since 1994
The best way to balance the budget is to reduce spending—particularly on wealthy retirees—but rather than hinder our efforts to control deficits, immigrants are helping.

I wrote a bit about the misguided effort by Democrats to replicate Joe Rogan the right-wing podcast ecosystem.

News isn’t a business. It’s a democratic enterprise, a service, a requirement for self-governance. It does not need to turn a profit to be essential for a free people and so should not be expected to do so. The way it is financially structured should reflect this reality.

Do you have kids? This is a great book for kids, too! The only difficult thing for them to understand will possibly be the fact that we used to use rolodexes for things as there's a page where I compare a memory to a rolodex you can flip through.

Independent journalists also desperately need universal healthcare alongside, well, everyone.

The powers that be don't want folks to have it because of healthcare lobby and also since it would allow more people to leave exploitative employers...like the Washington Post
So many people doing great work here; many of us were caught in layoffs repeatedly or squeezed out of traditional staff jobs. I value the indie media ecosystem so much but there's also a critical need for newsrooms and their resources: Some stories need a lot of support, especially investigations.
Given the WaPo disaster, I’m re-posting my starter pack of indie journalists—it probably needs an update so give me a shout to add folks.

The surest way to radicalize citizens is to use positions of power given by citizens to harm citizens. You think we won’t fight back? You think the military, made up of our children, won’t align with the constitution and us? This pedophile in office is a lost cause.
