I think the reason romantasy is dwarfing sales of fantasy & sci-fi is that it's a subset of romance.

And romance is the biggest, most profitable category in literature.

Romantasy allowed romance readers, who read very widely, to take cross-genre romance mainstream & it's reaping the rewards.

The common advice is that horror books should be short, mostly because terror is a difficult effect to maintain. However, I've always been drawn to Horror epics. Give me people who spend their lives, maybe even multiple generations, haunted by an unspeakable horror.
A reader named Amanda messaged me for my "long book" recommendations so I compiled a few favorites. Long books for the Long Dark.

Labour turning the dial that says "racism" and looking back towards the public like a contestant on the price is right only to discover every time they turn the dial the only thing that changes is Reform's increasing vote share.

Your strategy of xenophobia has already failed. More won't help.

I acquired this novel a while ago, and it's a stunning read - it's so clever, and intimate, and downright scary. It was brilliant when I first read it, but with the edits Rhiannon worked through it, it's just amazing. And Katie Klim produced the most perfect cover ❤️

I'm beyond excited for everyone to get their hands on this book next summer! I can't remember the last time I had to put a horror novel down for a little bit in the middle of reading because it hit too close to home (sick).

HOME SICK is a phenomenal debut and it's available to preorder now! 🏘️
