Every day I get less and less convinced I can call the stories in Limelight and Other Stories science fiction...🥲
For real, check this out. Evil.

Moniack Mhor magic has struck again, dark health tech SF cyberpunk rebellion and resistance novella/short novel is done and ready to send to my agent! It's a Black Mirror-esque tale of lives intersecting in an alternative future I'm describing as Gotham City meets Panem - excited for next steps 🤞👁️

This is sort of the plot of my story Hush, Little Sister (except AI dead sister) in OBSOLESCENCE from @shortwavebooks.bsky.social, also in collection Limelight and Other Stories! OBSOLESCENCE also has other haunting and dark tales of tech terror...👀
You could literally do a horror anthology based on the different ways this can go wrong.

AI dead mom escapes into your TV, and your digital fridge, and your pacemaker.
What if AI dead mom ends up neglected just like one of those digital picture frames. Sold at a digital goodwill for $2.50.

I'm beyond excited for everyone to get their hands on this book next summer! I can't remember the last time I had to put a horror novel down for a little bit in the middle of reading because it hit too close to home (sick).

HOME SICK is a phenomenal debut and it's available to preorder now! 🏘️

Sorry for the delay.
We had to wait on timezones.
Because HOME SICK just had its cover reveal in People Magazine.

That moment getting near the end of revisions, when a previously minor character does something surprising, and opens the possibility for...a sequel? Or simply ambiguous ending? (I am a standalone writer, what is this alchemy...) 👀👁🤖
Very happy to have been awarded Creative Scotland funding to expand a dark SF project (similar vibes to Limelight)! A multi-POV tale of lives intersecting in a dystopian city run by a nefarious corporation (think Gotham meets Panem) with dark health tech, a heist, and an assassination plot...✨👁️

I've had six AI emails this morning offering various review/author services (I assume, I didn't open all of them), but the most frustrating thing is just imagining the absolute waste of resources in generating these emails, sending them out to no doubt hundreds of other authors, other creatives.

On August 12, 1971, 16-year-old me mailed the first story I ever wrote off on its first submission to my dream market, F&SF. My tale was quickly rejected. On July 17th, 2025, I finally sold a story to that magazine. Here's why I felt I had to withdraw that story. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...
