Seeing as we're having a 🌈SUPER GAY DAY🌈, I made a promo post for my profile. All links to independent outlets are in the alt text (or sail the Big River if it suits).

Featuring my British Fantasy Award winning story "Morta" and three shortlisted anthologies.

All gay. All slay. All day. 🏳️‍🌈☠️📚💙
They won't make Bond queer. They won't make Bond a PoC. They won't make Bond a woman.

That opens up so many creative options!

The one with the little wooden doors that each lead to a chamber in Hell where my enemies scream forever through a 25 day sequence of miniature fiery torment.

Christmassy. 🎅
everything is bonkers right now and we need a timeline cleanse. let’s play a game. if I handed you a blank check but you could ONLY spend it on an Advent calendar, what absurdly pricy collection of little treats are you buying yourself?

Forget Bond. It's all been done before.

What we need is a dragon in human form who battles a resurrected mummy for the fate of the world.

I know. It's quite specific but

Project Hanuman is here. I hope you'll take a look as I think it's a pretty good space opera - no hero's journey here - this is about community, how we build back better and, of course, mind bending space battles in sentient ships.

Just have Tom Bond, the gay son of James who, while inheriting all his gadgets and facing occasional vengeful villains, prefers to run his upmarket florists in Mayfair.

Simple.

Yes, I have received your many spam emails about my website. No, you'll never know that, because I'll never reply.

Thank you.

The nights are drawing in, so I purchased a new winter hoodie.

Did folks notice that Mia Goth also plays Claire, Frankenstein's mother?

Subtle, but true.

Hey, folks. We hope you're all recovered from WFC & had the best time.

If you're already suffering con withdrawals, be comforted that Glasgow 2026 is now the official seated Fantasycon. Only 11 months to go!

And here's a little something to whet your appetite!

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.

Slow chapter to write, but it's a foundational one. They usually are.

Onto chapter 7.

If you're hungry for more Frankenstein, you could always read "Frankenstein Uncut" in my latest collection.

It's faithful to the original text. There's cadaverous willy choosing, naked steam baths and a snack of a Henry Clerval.

Sorry if you still believe that the BBC is impartial and has integrity, I guess.

It's run by a right-winger who refuses to call fascists fascist. 🤷‍♂️

Sooo... "Pluribus" is wild, right?

It feels kinda wrong to laugh so much, but

Episode 2 of the intriguing "Pluribus". I recognised Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, right away and said so.

They're pretending it's Morocco though.

Seeing several complaints from back home online. I don't miss November fireworks. They're not good for the nerves, wildly unregulated in the UK, dangerous, and harmful to wildlife and pets.

I'm not one to speak of Catholic revenge or the angry ghosts of executed rebels, but

25K words into my wip and I'm about to commit a horror. An inaugural weirdness that will be hard for the MC to deny.

Been excited about it since the first line. Like a horrible, demented kid.

"Ah, hell no" was my initial reaction when someone explained LLMs in writing to me.

That outlook hasn't changed. I've never opened Chat Gtp or enquired any further. No more than I would rip out my soul and feed it to the slobbering jaws of Satan.

Just say, "Hell no." 👍
A bunch of writer friends are noting that they have not used LLMs to write. Me either, absolutely not. I feel like we need to stop asking kids what they want to BE when they grow up and start asking them what they want to DO. Because: I am not here to BE A WRITER, I am here to WRITE.

I find it quite sad in 2025 that out cinematic portrayal of the heroic is so woefully dated and one-note. We're still pondering the hubris of cishet men in regards to power. We're lauding everyday kindness as "punk rock" while the same films continue to omit all other perspectives.

I'm bored.

Aside from "Mary Shelley" (2017) and the upcoming "The Bride" (2026), has a woman ever directed a Frankenstein movie?

Because I find that quite *strange.
