Featuring my British Fantasy Award winning story "Morta" and three shortlisted anthologies.

I know it sounds pretentious.

Took me 10 years of indie pub to get a book deal.

Over 5 years, I've lost an agent. Had a deal not renewed. Lost a deal on the table.

I focused on my craft. 5 years on, another deal.

I've *never* cut corners.

Fuck them and their AI shilling, frankly.
My take on AI is don't be afraid of organic growth as an artist. Art isn't something you should want to game. The time it takes to improve is both essential and the point. Later, you may appreciate the fact that you approached your art naturally and honestly. Protect it.

That's the artistic soul.

Of course it would be cruel and unusual to suggest bricking JKR up in a ruined abbey tower.

But if I did...

And back before full dark. That was worth every bramble scratch.

This ramshackle little pub is so cosy I could stay here all winter. 🤗

"Academics literally cannot make genAI go away" we also can't make underage drinking go away and we're not advocating for installing bar carts in every classroom.

If you asked me what's the one thing I never regret, I'm gonna tell you, "Travel."

Nice though (if chilly).

Currently in the pub waiting for an Uber later. It isn't gonna be a round trip.

What every hiker loves to see once they've crossed the field. 😬

Me *to barman earlier*: Pfft. I'm sure I can find my way to the barrow. It's pretty much a straight line.

Also me: *gets lost in wild wood* *chased by crazed sheep into ditch*

I'm unlikely to have phone reception for the rest of the day. Should I go missing, I'm heading towards the barrow-downs. Thanks.

Even though I was a Midlands lad for a while I never really explored Yorkshire. It's kind of a shame, because it's earthy and friendly in a way I've only ever encountered in Spain.

And the scenery is stunning.

Cold tho.

Up at the crack for a slap up Yorkshire breakfast and a (chilly) hike on the moors.

HR article (by non gay male): The show erases the gay community of its period setting.

Me: It's a romantic drama TV series.

HR article (by non gay male): The show presents a conservative reality for out gay men.

This hotel bed is so fucking comfortable. I ordered beef and horseradish sandwiches from room service so as not to interrupt my reading.

It's called being an adult.

Quite like HR. Not remotely a fan of the "weighty" discourse on gay male experience/culture going on by those who are not gay men.

Said it a hundred times. To certain members of a demographic that's benefited from systemic exclusion for centuries, the slightest change in that situation may well seem like persecution.

In reality, opportunities have simply become more diverse and fairer.
This shit is made up, actually

What is the ancient secret of St Gregory's? What's the meaning behind the salacious glint in the local vicar's eye?

How the fuck should I know? I'm just a visiting gay author who came here to do a little research.

Mind your own!

Findings: British public transport is complicated and slow.

Do we really need to stop at Dewey Bottom? There hasn't been a passenger here since 1814.
