Honestly have no idea what some people get out of using AI for writing. Just had all the parts of a story idea click into place and it’s such a satisfying feeling. Why the hell would anyone want to outsource creativity?

URGENT! Baron Quits the Payloaders!
My new short story is out at @escapepod.org! 🎸👨‍🚀⚡

It's my tribute to heavy music and how inspiring it is for me. It's a found family piece about overcoming grief, finding new meanings in life, and dealing with predatory companies.

Escape Pod 1019: Baron Quits The Payloaders
This story starts with a gig. Half a million people from all corners of the galaxy, hands in the air, heads banging to our vibrant noise. You probably saw the venue on some feed already.

✨ ‘Tis the season…for award eligibility posts! ✨

I had two short stories published in 2025 and I'd be honoured if you considered them in your nominations for the various SFF awards. And Year’s Best Canadian F&SF Vol 3 is eligible for Best Anthology in the Locus, World Fantasy, and Aurora Awards.

Yeah, let’s not forget it’s actually 5 magazines you might have to walk away from if you’re a cross-genre author.
Mystery and crime writers are also experiencing similar shenanigans—after extra long reply times—because MRM owns Ellery Queen and Alfred Hitchcock too.

This was @victoriastrauss.com's take in Writer Beware in July 2025:

I thought withdrawing from Analog after 10 years of trying hurt. Scott walked away from F&SF after more than 50! I feel like I could’ve written this because it’s basically the experience I had. I’m so sorry, Scott. We need an antho for all these stories. “The Ones Who Walk Away from MRM”?
On August 12, 1971, 16-year-old me mailed the first story I ever wrote off on its first submission to my dream market, F&SF. My tale was quickly rejected. On July 17th, 2025, I finally sold a story to that magazine. Here's why I felt I had to withdraw that story. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...
