One day it won't be a perennial reminder. But that's not today.

If 'yeah but he's FAT' is anywhere in your commentary about the current President of the US, he will never see that. But every single fat friend you have will.

THIS. I never know what the hell my stories are about until I’m partway through actually writing them. It’s the work that makes it what it is. You’re building it bit by bit.
most of the time, the idea isn't even *the* idea halfway through drafting the thing because the idea has sprouted its own wings and is now telling you to go into a different direction, and all the plotting and planning has to start all over again.
the idea is not all that counts. the idea is nothing at all until it has been lassooed, corralled, mutated, shuffled, blended with other ideas, and then expressed over the medium of however many thousand words that you have selected and arranged as best you can. the idea is a promise, not a book.

It's Straith's awards eligibility post for 2025!!

I'm putting forward two of the three stories I had published this year for your consideration. I'd love especially if you'd consider "Fishwife" for the Aurora Award for Short Fiction, since it's my mémère story 💜

This is about the only new fiction I have out this year!

I’ve reread this a few times since it got bought, and it still manages to surprise me. (I wrote this??! Jesus. 🤐)

If you’ve lived with unkindness your whole life, being free from it is … not uncomplicated, to say the least. 😬

😱 I can't believe we're wrapping up our first-ever #Quasar!

But from @jenniferhudak.bsky.social's soothing meditation to talking horror with @hwany.org, to a deep-dive into nailing public events & working with bookstores & libraries, what an abundance of riches made possible by YOU. 😍

I'd dropped the price of all my shawls by at least 25% so they're all under $50 through December 15. Also made up a lower price weight class for the cheaper items.
