For me, it's “Barbershops of the Floating City” in @uncannymagazine.bsky.social because I write a lot of dark fiction, but this was the first time I completely rewrote an ending because I wanted so badly for the characters to have a better chance at living.

I worked so very hard on this one. It was—and probably still is—the most technically challenging story I’ve ever written. And it gave me so much anxiety also bc I wrote it the week after I wrote “Negative Scholarship,” which is a very hard story to live up to.

But maybe I did it. Maybe! We’ll see.

This was my week 5 Clarion story that gave me cervical misalignment bc I wrote too much & too hard. Literally 20,000+ of planning notes for an 8.1k story … and then this summer I had rotator cuff tendonitis while revising this story.

I literally gave my arm TWICE for this little bitch. 😭

(This doesn’t happen ever BUT I actually got TWO acceptances in less than 24hrs!)

Happy to announce I’ll also be returning to @uncannymagazine.bsky.social with a body horror novelette ft. a wartime factory where its workers get their memories wiped out every night via hounds that lick their bodies!
I just saw the first episode of PLURIBUS and

(1) What the fuck [complimentary]
(2) Some of the imageries here really remind me of what I have in my latest Clarkesworld story sale (I just signed the contract today)

Yes this is an announcement! New scifi horror from me coming soon!

Like I said, I'm still reading, but these are at the tippy top of my brain going into November. I'll post more as the months pass.

And I'd also like to drop a note about one of my own stories, "Six People to Revise You," from @uncannymagazine.bsky.social

If you know me, you know I love research, so it was tremendous fun doing a deep dive not only into what a magic show bill might have looked like at the time in question, but also, literally, how the trick is done.

This is my only story coming out in 2025 thanks to some publishing date weirdness elsewhere, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. l have a soft spot for fiction & film about stage magic, and it was fun to play in that playground.

Happy to announce I sold my scifi horror/satire novelette "The Snatchers" to @uncannymagazine.bsky.social!

It’s a story inspired by “The Invasion of the Body Snatchers”. It sprang out of my literal nightmares about…everything. It's about those who snatch people and make them disappear.
