For me, it's “Barbershops of the Floating City” in @uncannymagazine.bsky.social because I write a lot of dark fiction, but this was the first time I completely rewrote an ending because I wanted so badly for the characters to have a better chance at living.

I worked so very hard on this one. It was—and probably still is—the most technically challenging story I’ve ever written. And it gave me so much anxiety also bc I wrote it the week after I wrote “Negative Scholarship,” which is a very hard story to live up to.
But maybe I did it. Maybe! We’ll see.

This was my week 5 Clarion story that gave me cervical misalignment bc I wrote too much & too hard. Literally 20,000+ of planning notes for an 8.1k story … and then this summer I had rotator cuff tendonitis while revising this story.
I literally gave my arm TWICE for this little bitch. 😭

Like I said, I'm still reading, but these are at the tippy top of my brain going into November. I'll post more as the months pass.
And I'd also like to drop a note about one of my own stories, "Six People to Revise You," from @uncannymagazine.bsky.social

If you know me, you know I love research, so it was tremendous fun doing a deep dive not only into what a magic show bill might have looked like at the time in question, but also, literally, how the trick is done.

What if the Snatchers were here, but instead of turning everyone into a copy of themselves, they turned everyone into the copy of one person. The Leader.
