Typical, if you win a Oscar, you're an Irishman in the papers, but if you are a key member of the downfall of the British Prime Minster, suddenly it's Corkman this, Corkman that!

Congrats to the editors at the Irish Times for their timing in publishing two news pieces this morning: Shannon Airport has been used for ICE deportation flight refuelling; an Irish man with no criminal record and a valid work permit has been held at an ICE centre in Texas ***since September 2025***

What 2020s movie has the greatest cultural footprint?

Note: This is not necessarily about box office, Oscars, critical acclaim, though all of those can count. It's more... pieces of it have so completely permeated our cultural groundwater that it will always be there.

It would be very funny if it turns out that Margot Robbie is actually playing the second Cathy in the Wuthering Heights movie

Nelly Dean:... I shall envy no one on their wedding day: there won’t be a happier woman than myself in England!

Me: I mean, thank you, this Mr. Heathcliff doesn't sound great but I really wanted to know more info like if the house was drafty during the winter?

Watched an A24 horror movie last night that really innovated the space by having the villian be a scary middle aged woman instead of a scary old woman!

There is plenty of evidence contrary to this but part of me refuses to believe Irish Billionaires exist.

I didn't rate the film very much but I would love a spin off about Abel Ferrara's character in Marty Supreme.

Idle thought, it's interesting that how few iconic films or shows on the life of Henry VIII, possibly the most famous King of England.

Me reading The Da Vinci Code in 2003: are we to believe that a global conspiracy would not hide their secrets with a password more complex than APPLE?

Me reading TDVC in 2026: are we to believe a global conspiracy would make as much effort to hide their secrets with a password as complex as APPLE

This does remind me of the Twin Peaks The Return is Anime take someone had on Twitter at the time.
My piping hot take on PLURIBUS is that it’s one of the most Ghibli-esque shows on TV today, and people who think its pacing is too slow ought to really sit with and examine why they feel that slow pace = bad.

Its first season has several minutes worth of “mā”, and is much stronger for it, IMO

My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.

It is kind of funny that everyone went from "Remake this film with the Muppets!" to "Thank God they finally went back to the classic Muppet Show!"
