I was just in a primary school which had a big display of “Letters from the Industrial Revolution” written by the kids. Absolutely adorable. One began:
“Hey Liam, I have to tell you something but I haven’t told Dad yet. I need to leave Manchester for a while to do chimney sweeping in Leeds.”

I mean the answer is because gender imbalance is only a problem in one direction because when it happens one way, it’s correcting for past wrongs; whereas in the other direction it’s just the patriarchy at work

I’m not reeeally sure I see a problem with an award having in 2025 a shortlist of 5 men and 1 woman, given in 2024 it had a shortlist of 5 women and 1 man?
