Overall liked Goodnight Universe, but one of the best parts of Before Your Eyes is its concise focus, and how its use of webcam tech to track your blinking felt inseparable from what it was trying to say. Goodnight Universe tries to do a lot more in twice the runtime. It's ambitious, but messy.

it is pretty darkly funny seeing posts like URGENT!!!! it is SUNDAY EVENING you must PUT DOWN YOUR DINNER and call your senator IMMEDIATELY to politely request they not press the big button marked "fuck you". this will not actually stop them from pressing the fuck you button. functioning democracy

i don't have much to say other than that this article is really, really good and i suggest everyone give it a read in terms of how to view, what to keep in mind when engaging w/ interactive historical fiction, and our participation in a glorified past that exists w/in unique contexts.
It's weird to say but the descent of 99% of marketing into forgettable display ads and click-optimized junk sucks. If we're going to be inundated with ads they could at least feel like they were made by humans and not just algorithms or pharmaceutical companies.
this is going to sound completely insane but i miss video game *commercials.*
not trailers. not engagements. not sponsored posts. like ... actually creative attempts to get my attention and hold it for 30-45 seconds by professionals.

Having worked at subway I can smell this
a couple years ago i contracted with one of subway's ad agencies for a small rotating sandwiches collab that ultimately they decided not to publish and i never did anything with. today feels like a good day to post one of them. here's my favorite subway sandwich, the veggie delight

I know it's just me being annoying, but watch and see who gives credit to the journalists *actually* covering a story and who just writes something — with no sourcing or credit — for engagement. And remember that! Journalism costs money and the people who actually cover things need your support.
