Breaks my heart to share this, but today is my last day at The Verge and I am looking for work! I'd really like to stay in video games, preferably in some kind of journalistic capacity but I can do PR/Marketing and maybe even a lil Narrative Design. Please get in touch!

This is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.
yeah, just out of interest, how many people choose the pen on the right for real work or art? See a lot of them in professional workplaces, do you?

I liked OBAA a lot. I liked everyone's performance. I also remember Monster's Ball and Halle Berry. I distinctly remember watching her speech in that sheer top red bottomed dress (A MOMENT) and thinking "for that?"
I was only 14 years old and even then i knew it was weird.
i'm feeling that again

Buddy, right now America is in the ER with a cut carotid and metastatic pancreatic cancer and the folks who have the power to STOP THE FUCKING BLEEDING are shoving pamphlets in our face about chemotherapy
People are waving around 50/50 polling on abolish ICE and in the same poll Trump’s is like 30 points under water on affordability. It’s not at all crazy for professional politicians to think there’s a bigger advantage in talking about the latter!

Yeah I understand that the goofy 90s sci-fi is the seasoning on the human drama but I think I need a lighter hand
Congrats! Also, the first season can be a little cringe while the characters find their feet. Don't worry, push through. It's worth it.

Yes, we have been trying to tell yall for generations that this is who you are, but you refused to listen to us and cheered on the feds and cops as they beat and murdered Black people for fighting against this.

May I interest you in the story of Fred Hampton Sr.? He was killed by the US government

What is happening is FUNDAMENTALLY American. You are what you do and at every turn America has chosen to do the foulest thing possible.
Those atrocities were un-American, too. Why do the evil-doers get to decide what the fundamental American values are? Let's define them ourselves.

I understand the impulse to distance yourself from American history. I do. But the atrocities are the actual normal for many communities. And until we confront them as part of a baseline societal flaw and address why they keep happening, they will not stop. They will just continue to shift targets
