I absolutely cannot believe someone hasn't gotten rich writing a pop economics book purporting to explain America's divisions through the lens of Sheez and Wawa

HNY! Reminder I am once again looking for a job. I make words happen, and turn them into cool stories that people want to read.

I've worked with seasoned journos and early-career freelancers. Reporters who've worked under me have gone on to work at WIRED, Teen Vogue, etc! hmu - hello@janusrose.com

“The president views energy geopolitics ‘almost like the world is a Settlers of Catan board—you kidnap the president of Venezuela and, ipso facto, you now control all the oil.’” This is from @mollytaft.com:
Trump Wants Venezuela's Oil. Getting It Might Not Be So Simple

I’m just annoyed here because leaving the framing aside, this is flatly incorrect—$600 can get you ridiculously nice boots or ridiculously overpriced ones, but it cannot get you “luxury“ boots.

This is really interesting. I do wonder what the results would look like if time spent reading was the metric, because I don’t consider number of books read the most useful number without some additional context.

As it happens, I have experience with high-level government demands to stop an explosive, accurate story from running, and I also have experience with 60 Minutes spiking a story I was involved in, so I have thoughts about the travesty at CBS. If you want some journalism anecdotes, here are a lot:
