It's time for slower art. The constant churn and grind pushed by techno capitalism has reached its inevitable conclusion with AI slop. Let's make our best work and be patient with our process. Let's release art that's worth stopping for and savoring. Let's show each other what humans can do

ARB puts up a call for reviews every month, but: at the end of each year, we find ourselves looking at a *long* list of speculative fiction & related non-fiction that we'd love to cover! Do your part to fight recency bias, and claim one of these!

The modern trend of science fiction conventions (often funded by shady entities doing greenwashing) that frame science fiction as some kind of tool to 'fix' the climate/future is so frustrating to me. Depending on art to provide a blueprint for scientific/social progress is absurd.
You should all listen to this if you’re not already listening to this podcast, but as a scientist who actually writes science fiction I can confidently say that asking scientists to communicate via scifi is the dumbest fucking idea ever
Episode 46: Sapiens

It's an ambitious goal to write the entire history of humanity in just 400 pages. It's even more ambitious to do it without reading any research.

A lawyer I know is trying to help an abuse victim client relocate to get away from their abusive ex. They have an infant child and they're really struggling due to SNAP being cut. Would be really cool if you're in a position to help a stranger out.

If you're in New York tonight, Kay Vaindal will be reading Pig House 2: Pig in the City at Lofty Pigeon Books!

Jk but they are reading the classic OG Pig House and answering questions alongside Louis Evans for the launch of ECO24, The Year's Best Speculative Ecofiction. Mooch on over, it'll be fun.

TWENTY DAYS OF TURIN is a magical book. Post-fascist Italian weird horror novel that seems to predict the internet, our deep need to pour ourselves into it, the isolation and web of espionage it creates, the way it is exploited by power.
