If tiny cars are too dangerous to be allowed on our streets, think of how it feels to be a pedestrian or cyclist!
Unlike Europe and Asia, NHTSA & Congress have failed to create a regulatory category for minicars. Because they flunk US safety rules for full-sized cars, they’re effectively illegal to sell.

Only “collectable” minicars cars 25+ years old can be legally sold (and they’re quite popular).
What Do US Vehicle Regulators Have Against Tiny Cars?
Super-small urban vehicles have found a place in European and Asian cities. But in the US, federal and state rulemakers seem determined to keep minicars at bay.

BREAKING: 12 strikers were just arrested by the NYPD while peacefully protesting outside the Empire State Building.

Allies are beginning to speak to the crowd about what just happened.
Today, baristas are bringing their ULP strike to Starbucks' NYC corporate office, housed inside the Empire State Building.

Workers and allies are demanding the company resolve 100s of unfair labor practices, end the union-busting, & finalize fair union contracts. Let's go! #NoContractNoCoffee

Every year December kicks off in a disappointing way. Why we don't fully maximize all four existing transit lines by running them more frequently and temporarily augmenting existing dedicated bus lanes on all sides of the park is nothing short of mind blowing.

On Black Friday, Starbucks workers expanded their ULP strike to 85+ cities.

Now, just 6 days later, the strike is growing AGAIN.

Hundreds of baristas are joining the Red Cup Rebellion today, alongside thousands already striking in 105+ cities!

i did 6 months at the salvation army adult drug rehabilitation program... the whole point of the program is to exploit the labor of the unhoused and vulnerable... a guy had some glass break and it went into both his arms, they kicked him out of the program when he went to the hospital...
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

Not coincidentally this is a pretty good list of Most Important Companies to Unionize.
The Boston Globe identified the companies in Massachusetts that employ the most SNAP recipients. A key stat: "In Massachusetts, 74% of working-age recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are employed, half of them full-time."

There are far better ways to ensure safety and privacy on the internet than what's being posited. What people do not get is that certain generations are still here BECAUSE of community found online. Taking away that community will be dooming us all. Talk with @fightforthefuture.org at least.
I've heard too many heartbreaking stories of parents losing a child due to Big Tech’s unsafe platforms. Their voices demand action.

The House Republican version of the Kids Online Safety Act doesn’t do the job.
First Speaker (D) opposes KOSA, but asserts the right to protect kids from the internet.

@schakowsky.house.gov entertaining this sort of legislation without discussing it with people who are knowledgeable about common sense online safety is unconscionable. And the fact that you all had someone sitting in advocating to use kid data to advertise to them? None of you are serious.

Also the fact that you all are even entertaining this in the middle of a revenge driven administration that will ABSOLUTELY censor anything they don't like is horrific. This is giving a flamethrower to a serial arsonist.

An important thing about cities is that people are often engaging while walking, biking, or taking public transit, as opposed to the car-centric suburbs. Cars isolate us and make us angry and unhappy.
To piggyback off of John's point (reposted), it's struck me lately how the baseline level of friendliness in cities has always seemed remarkably higher than the suburbs or rural areas to me, and I think it's because everyone is used to interacting with strangers as a routine part of their day

I’m being overly broad, but in cities a lot more of one’s interactions with strangers aren’t transactional or competitive. In suburb, outside of one’s inner circle, many interactions with strangers involve other buying something from them or competing for road space and parking.

When there's road work on University Ave in San Diego, the streetcar tracks that were paved over in the 1950s are sometimes visible. Buses that operate on this segment today are some of the most frequently delayed in the system because of the traffic.

This annual absurdity is why people don't trust local governments when transit funding is on the ballot or transit-priority infrastructure is on a meeting agenda. Why would anyone give up their car or support dedicated lanes for transit that will be canceled because of traffic?
