Don't forget folks: allowing yourself a vision of the future you'd want for our country and planet - not the one you'd settle for, not the one you fear, but the future of your dreams - isn't naive, it's a vital cognitive skill. That's how we articulate what we most value. What's worth fighting for.
Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.

Reminds me of how the 10 year wake of the 2008 crisis was doing austerity instead of borrowing at nearly 0% to just build a shit ton of infrastructure.

“Well… we can’t just keep filing impeachment articles all the time.”

Yes you can! If the man is committing impeachable offenses on the regular, you’re acquiescing to a standard that raises the bar for impeachable offense to absurd levels.
How are voters meant to understand how serious things are if in lieu of shouting fire AND going into building with hoses, you're simply posting fire safety suggestions on social media?
Not introducing articles of impeachment is a message that Trump hasn't committed impeachable offenses.

This is how it's done. If incumbent Democrats won't do the job, their primary challengers can and will use this to make sure someone else does
The Republican Congress has chosen to give away its authority and power and now we are being told Trump plans to occupy Venezuela. We don't cry for Maduro. We demand the following of our laws and Constitution. He is already threatening Mexico and Cuba will be next. Ann Wagner is silent.

In Marin County, flooding left motorists stranded and kayakers paddling Saturday in areas where bicyclists usually pedaled. The high tides prompted a coastal flood advisory in effect through 2 p.m. Sunday for much of the Bay Area and Central Coast.

I would add that every bicycle lane, every transit line, and every street we can give back to people is also a tool in our march for peace as we try to get away from fossil fuels and the violence, despoliation, and corruption they enable.

Periodic reminder:

If you use less gas for transportation, you help drop the value of a barrel of oil, which makes the people looking to profit off of stealing from Venezuelans, lose money.
🇻🇪♥️

Take the bus/train/bike/scooter, buy an EV, don't use gas.
Which makes invading Venezuela a much less profitable endeavor.

Venezuela either has "The most oil in the world!" Or "Not that much oil really," depending on what the price of oil is.
🙂🙃

Oil is currently near a 4 year low.

More!

@Chasteen True. It's complicated. "How much oil does Venezuela have? And is it high or low quality?" are questions whose answer changes greatly depending on what the global price of oil is. 🤷🏿‍♂️ ...

I'm boosting myself to say this:

You're going to see people On Here tell you calling electeds doesn't matter. That's not true.

Some are bots. Some are people who like being contrary to be edgy.

But calling moves the needle, especially against a blatantly illegal act by Trump and Co. ACT.
Candid answer - as someone who handled constituent affairs calls for years - while they’re not checking the phone right now, the urgency of the moment is important.

Show them you care enough to make the weekend call, and be counted that way. Staffers will clock and report this upstream.
Is there actually a benefit to leaving a VM now vs getting a staffer on Monday? Can do both but just curious

OP is correct, of course.

To branch off: we don’t know if we’re at war with Venezuela, but we _do_ know that the president is at war with the Constitution — and has been, as the NYT noted on Friday, since Jan. 6.

Trump’s insurrectionary activity never stopped. Welcome to its sixth year.
Are we at war with Venezuela?!?

I don't know. You don't know either.

It sure would be nice to have a legitimate Pentagon press corps right about now.

I’m thinking this morning about all the people I spoke to last year who were absolutely convinced, and tried to convince me, that Trump would be antiwar compared to Biden and Harris.

In the past week alone he has attacked Nigeria and then Venezuela and also threatened to attack Iran (again).

Our architect asked me how I would use the kitchen. I told him that I batch cook on weekends, throw potlucks, and use the kitchen counter to cut fabric during the weekdays.
His eyes lit up. His mom was a home ec teacher. 54" by 90" island w/ pattern drawers & tool storage
This kitchen doesn't just have a kitchen island, it has a kitchen continent. And then they went to the Wolf dealer who sold them on smashing two Wolf ovens together ($25K?). #FridayNightZillow

i mean, the thing about this formulation is that it literally begs the question. what if one of those “average americans” is an advocate? or an expert? should they then be ignored?
ah yes, the best way to explain and understand the world is by ignoring experts and practitioners and turning our attention to the “average American,” whatever that means
This isn't about democratizing the news. It's about elevating "vibes" and "feelings" to be on par with lived experience and subject-matter expertise.
