Action Committee for Transit
@actfortransit.bsky.social
We advocate for more & better transit; streets safe for everyone; & housing & land use policies to make this possible. A Montgomery County, Maryland, built for people and not for automobiles. https://www.actfortransit.org/
The bonus #TransitCat of the day is Ghost, a cat who works as a bike inspector and tire installation supervisor.💜
Apparently, tire installation also requires supervision.

The #TransitCat of the day is an orange and white adult (3-8 years) medium (7-11 pounds) cat named Bichael (Bike) who is available for adoption at Harmony House for Cats in Chicago (via Petfinder).💜
PLEASE LOOK AT THIS CAT.

I LOVE BIKE.

Hi-vis for utility poles.

That's why utility poles wear their little yellow safety vests.

We have heard DOT and law enforcement officials say this here, too.
One of the more disturbing sections of the city's report on right turns on reds : they say that banning right turns on reds will lead to worse safety because drivers will be impatient and kill/injure people due to being inconvenienced.

We can't seriously be hiding behind this right?

The most profound event in my childhood was moving from a cloistered, car-dependent California suburb to a small, walkable/bikeable town in Oregon at age 10. Six years before I could legally drive I suddenly had actual autonomy, instead of being trapped in a car all day. That changes you!

And yet there is no road space on Bradley Blvd/191 for a bike lane.🤷

I’m opposed to any plan, especially one that ignores public input, to cut off safe biking routes for Virginians.

Forcing bikes to share walkway space with pedestrians or roads with cars is dangerous, and ripping up existing biking routes to do it is nonsensical.
We’ve heard now from several reliable sources that federal agencies may remove a substantial chunk of the 15th St NW protected bike lanes near the National Mall in February, possibly as early as next week.

The ID you need to go to @mcpllibraries.bsky.social and check out a book is a library card.

Two simple tricks to avoid citations from speed cameras:

1. If you're driving, obey the speed limit!
2. Go by not-driving: walk or bike, take the bus or train, or get a ride with someone who is able to obey the speed limit while driving!
Look at the rage against speed cameras - every dad at hockey feels “they’re just stealing from us” and one recounted how many times he has been fined and how outrageous it is…ya know bud, there’s a solution to getting fined for speeding and it ain’t ripping down the speed cameras!!

People walking getting run over here is not a surprise at all. Giant roads next to a transit hub.

a 2016 Toyota Corolla driver (40/F)
going south on Colesville Rd/29 across from the Silver Spring Transit Center entrance
hit & injured a pedestrian (21/F)
crossing properly in a marked crosswalk.
Driver found at fault: ran red light, negligent driving.

#BeSafeBeSeen, house.
Footage shared by the Tigard Police department shows the moment they say a pickup truck launched 100 feet and crashed into the side of a Tigard home last week.
