Since our Next Generation Fare Gates have been installed there have been far fewer corrective maintenance requests and less time spent cleaning and fixing things inside the paid area of stations.

Following installation, corrective maintenance in stations decreased by 961 hours total.

The stairway that serves the Civic Center-UN Plaza BART entrance will be closed to public access through this Saturday, February 14, to complete stainless steel cladding installation along the new escalator walls.

Riders can exit the station via the escalator next to the stairway.

Saturday ridership update!

We served 152,028 trips. That is 46,678 more trips than last Saturday.

And 20% used our easy Tap and Ride payment.

Thank you Bay Area for not driving and supporting transit.

BART riders are racking up passing yards this Super Bowl week!

We served 223,770 trips yesterday. That is about 17,000 more than last Thursday! 14.6% of those riders used Tap and Ride.​

This Sunday take BART to Oakland’s Super Bowl watch party at the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts:

BART and Mandela Station Partners LLC will start construction on the Transit-Oriented Development project at West Oakland Station this year.

Phase 1 is currently scheduled to start in mid-2026 with the construction of 240 affordable housing units on the southwest portion of the station parking lot.

Riders are blitzing BART as Super Bowl week continues!

Tuesday and Wednesday both saw thousands of extra trips compared to last week as fans take in the football fever sweeping the Bay Area.

BART ridership rushed for about 10,000 extra yards (umm, we mean trips) yesterday compared to the previous Tuesday.

We served 213,903 trips Tuesday, and about 13.3% of them used Tap and Ride, our new feature that lets riders pay with contactless bank cards, credit and debit and cards.

Follow the new decals at Powell St. Station to get to the Super Bowl Experience at Moscone Center and the BAHC Live! San Francisco Fan Zone at Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco February 3-7!

Take BART to Powell Street Station and use Exit B4 to Market and 4th St/Moscone Center.

BART is recovering from an earlier problem. Please expect delays of up to 20 minutes systemwide due to an earthquake within the BART service area. Safety track inspections were concluded and normal train service has resumed. Thank you.

West Oakland Station is temporarily closed due to a major medical emergency, and trains are not stopping at the station.

Riders can still cross the bay by taking a Blue or Yellow line train. There is currently no service on the Red and Green lines. Riders can use the Orange Line to complete trips.

On Sunday, February 1, crews will manage vegetation along the Yellow Line near Orinda that could cause future delays and challenges to provide safe and reliable service.

From 8am to 12:30pm service will be reduced from two tracks to one through the Berkeley Hills Tunnel.

Overall crime on BART dropped 41% in 2025 compared to the previous year, with violent crime down 31% and property crime down 43%, according to the December 2025 Chief’s Monthly Report. Additional highlights include auto thefts decreasing by half year over year and robberies decreasing by 60%.
